Blount is a roleplayer at QB. He has already proven he fits in our system, the jump pass INT aside. One can never have too many weapons or options, Where else is he going to play and succeed? The market for those who can run wildcat plays is small. Blount was a serviceable backup and could improve with JS around. Given how we had to go to the third string QB this season and who knows if Luton gets the medical redshirt, having an extra card in hand would be nice. For the most part, Blount was money in short yardage situations. Since he is not a pro prospect, he would be better served staying put in Corvallis, where a niche has been carved out by both our offensive playcalling and his high rate of success when used in situations requiring his specific talents.
Where having Blount around could be fun: Use him early on in just short yardage as a runner while turning him into a "secret weapon" during closed practices with a package of passing plays he can execute with proficiency. Unleash the kraken on an opponent most likely to have their D out of position. Do this early enough in the season to get opposing DC's wondering if Blount will cross them up in later games when he comes in. The more we make the opponent plan for and guess about, the more likely we will get the play or two which becomes the margin of victory in a close game.

Highlights: Luton applying for Medical Redshirt year, they are optimistic he will get it Conor Blount is looking to transfer linkI'm really not sure why they're optimistic he'll get a 6th year. Sixth years are reserved for kids who have missed TWO seasons for injury reasons. The question would be if Luton sat out the 2014 season for medical reasons. If not, he really doesn't have a case. That is, unless the NCAA has changed its rules related to medical hardships recent years, which I suppose could be the case, since they've changed a lot of other transfer rules and redshirt rules. Anyhow, under the historical use and awarding of medical hardships and 6th year eligibility, he would NOT qualify unless 2014 was a season missed due to injury.

Jake is our "wildcat" and short-yardage QB. Blount was the starter while Luton was out.

Colletto was the short yardage runner and jump pass/int tosser

Losing Connor would leave us very thin even with Luton.

It is my impression that as part of the culture shift of the NCAA providing more benefits and rights to players, it has also been granting extra years of eligibility more frequently then in the past.

Losing Connor would leave us very thin even with Luton. Believe that would still leave us with 5... Luton, Willard, Gebbia, Moore, Colletto

Highlights: Luton applying for Medical Redshirt year, they are optimistic he will get it Conor Blount is looking to transfer linkHe doesn’t list Colletto as a returning backup, an obvious oversight. “Word is Conor Blount is looking to transfer, which would leave only redshirt Nick Moore and Aidan Willard on the QB depth chart.”

Highlights: Luton applying for Medical Redshirt year, they are optimistic he will get it Conor Blount is looking to transfer linkWe should all hope this happens. A healthy Luton with an upgraded (hopefully) offensive line is a more than serviceable qb at this level. Talked to some people at the game this week who think Gebbia is a bit undersized and needs to put some weight on...quality player, but is he ready to go at this point?

The people saying this are people whose opinion you would respect. Not suggest he is some sort of overrated bust, just a cautionary note..and having Luton back would not be a bad thing,
