This is a Super Bowl pre game of sorts. So yes.
And somebody else somewhere sometime will make this connection, as odd as it is. Will CBS do it in their actual pregame? Probably not. Remember, it's only egregious to Oregon State fans. However, it should be noted!

Articles have been written in Louisiana, Massachusetts, and Oregon about the connection. The media should be aware. I mean how many times does one player beat out another player at a position, the loser transfers, and both wind up starters at the same position for different teams in the Super Bowl? Hekker is a six-time All-Pro (been playing seven years). Allen has two Super Bowl rings, an AFC Championship ring, and has played in all six AFC Championships since he graduated. The two are arguably one of the top 10 players in the world at their position.

I wasn't arguing how good either of them are, just that since Allen never played for OSU, that it might not get brought up.

Let's measure how many square inches of newspaper print the Oregonian uses to cover this.

Where's the "I don't care" option?

I feel like his point was that this won't go unnoticed because of the relative stature of both players - the contrasting scenario would be that one or either is pedestrian at his respective position and therefore unworthy of deeper scrutiny. Media only pays attention if you're the G.O.A.T.... or "the goat".

Kerry Eggers fires the first salvo.... Punter?Proof that Eggers reads Benny's House. Who was the scholarship punter in that 2008 camp? Or was Riley just winging it with scrubs? *now i remember. Serna was the Kicker AND punter in 2007 because there was no other punter, schollied or otherwise. And of course, there was no returning punters in 2008. If i recall correctly there was tearful angst on the forums about Serna doing double duty the year before and Riley still had not signed a punter going into 2008. So, yeah he winged it and brought a couple guys in. And he got lucky that one of them didn't suck too bad.

Who was the punter that quit suddenly before the season started, leaving us in the lurch?

That's right!
Interesting story, that dude.. he quit the team and then joined the Army, did 4 years in the 82nd Airborne division, then signed a schollie with Portland State and was a first team All-American.
