I see Gundy was not happy with how "hard" it is to get to Corvallis. "This is not an easy place to get to to play a game. It's a long ways out here. It was an hour and 35-minute drive from our hotel getting in here." He needs a new ops director, one who knows it's not very smart to stay in Portland and then drive down the busiest road on the West Coast to OSU during Thursday and Friday of Labor Day weekend. That's why visiting teams almost always stay in Eugene or in Salem, both of which have plenty of hotels that can accommodate a college football team, with airports easily accessible by charter, and only 45 minutes away from Reser. Ever think to have your ops guys check with the ops guys at Louisville, Cincinnati, Wisconsin or Minnesota, all of whom played here without complaining? Or any Pac-12 program? Don't blame Corvallis because your ops guys didn't go their homework. And some guy who lives in Stillwater, Okla., has no business complaining about how "hard" it is to get to Corvallis. pamplinmedia.com/pt/12-sports/437325-348891-not-the-game-one-we-wanted

Funny. Takes over an hour in a bus to get from OKC to Stillwater. Sheesh...

Almost any Pac 12 North opponent is "hard to get to" because the plane ride is long, flying against the jetstream. You lose time flying west because of the time difference. Let's see OK state fly to seatac and bus 90 minutes through Seattle traffic to Lake Washington. SFO or San Jose is no bargain either with Bay area traffic. And dont even say the word Pullman. I see there's a new Marriott Courtyard in downtown Corvallis. That's a decent option.

It’s definitely on their Ops Director. They could have reached out to our Ops Director to check on the best logistics.

"The busiest road on the West Coast..." What? I-5 between Portland and Salem? It's not even on the list. I-5 is the busiest road on the West Coast. No, it's not. That would be the 405 in LA. And the busiest parts of I-5 are not between Portland and Salem.

I-5, from Washington to San Diego, carries more traffic per minute, per hour, per day, per week, per month and per year than any road on the West Coast. Therefore, it is the busiest road.
Nowhere did I say I-5 between Portland and Albany is the busiest road on the West Coast.

The 5 between Los Angeles and San Diego is the second-busiest Interstate in America. Your argument is that all stretches of the 5 taken together is busier in aggregate?

Nowhere did I say I-5 between Portland and Albany is the busiest road on the West Coast. I get that argument. But I think it would be disingenuous to drive from Mt. Shasta to Yreka and tell people that you just drove the busiest road on the west coast. That's an extreme example, but the principle applies to driving between Portland and Albany. Arguably, the busiest road on the west coast, if you are going to stretch the road to its entirety, is I-90, that goes from Seattle to Boston, passing through Chicago and other Midwest cities along the way. That highway, from its entire length, has more cars driving on it than any other highway in America and one terminus is on the west coast.
