I've been to one OSU -Cal game in Berkeley, 1986. We won 14-12. It was my last year at OSU and I drove down with two friends and met two 1986 grads. We sat in the southeast endzone and some Cal faculty member bought us all pretzels (not sure if they had cannabis imbibed or not). The play I remember is a short touchdown pass from Wilhelm to Robb Thomas right in front of us.
I just looked on-line and for the season our leading rushers were Carl Lane and Pat Chaffey (51-201 and 47-232). Leading receivers were Dave Montagne, Dowell Williams, Damon Medlock, Chaffey and Thomas (78-862-2, 45-323-0, 37-313-2, 33-296-1, 22-389-2). Pac-10 standings that year were: ASU 5-1-1, UCLA 5-2-1, Washington 5-2-1, Arizona 5-3, USC 5-3, Stanford 5-3, Oregon 3-5, Washington State 2-6-1, California 2-7, OSU 1-6.

Wasn't this also the game where Cal's big name RB tried to jump over a Beaver defender, landed on his back out-of-bounds, and had to be taken off the field in an ambulance? I also liked the goal line stand (can't recall the year it happened) where Cal couldn't get the field goal squad in the game at the end to lose to the Beavers. Jahvid Best. Ouch. Still makes me hurt.

I was at infamous Riley Bonehead Play, sitting behind the student section. Cal was ranked #2, and #1 lost earlier in the day. The students were absolutely stoked about the prospect of being ranked #1. When Cal's QB ran for the TD instead and running out the clock, instead of stopping the clock and kicking the field goal for the tie, it was an unreal deflation of the whole stadium. We Beaver fans there were completely stunned and hardly could believe we had just won.
Was also on the endzone seats near the Best concussion. Initially I thought I had just seen someone die the way his body reacted. Was sick.

I have attended several Beavs @ Cal games. In 2000, while driving to the game, I had to go to the ER near Berkeley for a heart issue. I stayed 8 hours, was cleared, and continued on to the game--And the Beavs won! Several people think I was crazy for doing this.

Being there when the Beav's clinched their first winning season - with my dad. We'd been to a lot of bad games over the years!

November 6, 1999 OSU 17, Cal 7 we emerged from the dark ages to get to 6 wins. "And after twenty eight years, the BEAVERS... ARE... WINNERS!" Man, I wore that VHS tape out. Still have it in a box somewhere. Been meaning to get a working VCR and transfer some of the good ones to DVD.
