Surplus sale at Truax at 8 a.m. I have found some good bargains there in the past. Maybe I'll snag some monogramed JS gear.

On a more serious note, I am conflicted about going tomorrow. It is spring, and with all that needs to be done outside - it makes it tough. But reading the article about McCoy, has piqued my interest! A dilemma!

But reading the article about McCoy, has piqued my interest! A dilemma! My daughter has hoops in Cali or I'd be there. The surplus sale is worth the trip alone. Take a $100 or two and get all kinds of cool stuff. If they have old side seats I'd like to know. I got a perfect spot to make a bench out of 2 or 3. They should have saved some for this but they likely didn't.

Format is a true game, orange vs black, over 4 quarters of running 15 mins. Due to depth, many linemen are wearing white and playing for both teams.
I'm half watching on TV while doing a couple other things, but here are my observations:
Offense was ineffective in the 1st half, halftime score was 3-0. Passing game shows signs of life, albeit with several missed connections on long balls, but running game was not impressive to me.
The 4th quarter is about to start, and offense is improved, with both teams scoring a TD in the 3rd quarter (however one was after an interception and runback to midfield).
My biggest takeaway: Chip Kelly's influence is now pervasive at Reser Stadium. This looks like a Kelly spread offense. Lots of read option, and from what I can see, McCoy is a good QB to run it.
Another big observation: Seems like every 3rd or 4th play is a screen pass to a RB. Tons of RB involvement in the passing game.
I really wonder now if the change in offense played a big part in Martinez's decision to leave. Maybe not a primary factor, but there was nothing really here football/experience-wise that was keeping him here...

I'm also curious about the organizational structure and how efficient we are in getting players/plays in and out. Does there look to be confusion or communication issues, etc? Special Teams... any special teams play of significance? Kickoff depth, how the ball off the foot of the kicker/punter looked in terms of "pop"?? Tackling... supposedly a huge emphasis was on tackling and tackling angles, tackling in space... how does it look?

I wasn't there but related to the organizational structure of the stadium/gameday experience, from what I gathered in the Twitter verse was there was no PA announcer calling out names of ball carriers/receivers etc. Which would be pretty on brand and doesn't exactly help us with an argument that we belong in a P4 conference.

Wind was blowing towards the band. Everett Hayes hit a 65 yard FG in warmups (yes, from the opposite 45 yard line). Missed a 55 yarder wide left in the game.
Punting was mixed. Maybe 2 out the 8 or so were good quality.
Defense had some good hard hits. Safety seems to be a strength. OLB also seems good.

Sat in the second deck of the west side for the first half. Those are outstanding seats.
