Has the texts from GA as the season progressed: Andersen (Sept 12): "I have them by the (expletive) for every penny, no buyout for the next four not counting this year... but that's not my style!! If it does not improve I will do some crazy (expletive) with my salary so I can pay the right coaches the right money!!" His mind was still focused on winning. But this was the first hint Andersen gave about what he might do. He was prepared to pay assistants out of his own pocket. Also, he was indicating that he wouldn't keep Oregon State on the hook for his salary if things didn't improve. Washington State was about to put a 52-23 beat down on the Beavers. Then, bye week. Then, the Huskies and Trojans. Andersen (Sept. 20): "I hired the wrong (expletive) guys and are still working our way through a bunch of recruiting years that stunk!! It's year three! If these (expletives) can't get it right I will not just say fire them and start over!! That's not the way to go about it. If I (expletive) it up that bad I will take the bullet and ride off into the sunset! I will stay old school!! I will not die doing this (expletive)!! Stay tuned!" Andersen (Sept. 24.): "I AM FIXING THIS PLACE IF IT KILLS!" Didn't sound like a guy who wanted to walk away. This was followed, later in the day, with an airplane right back from a recruiting trip. Andersen found himself sitting on the plane beside former Ducks coach Mark Helfrich. Andersen (Sept. 24): "Just landed in Eugene... rode back with Helfrich. I like that guy a lot!!" I suspected that Andersen might try to hire Helfrich at some point as a consultant. After all, the offense at OSU needed some imagination. Helfrich, who was doing some analyst work on television would be an interesting hire. The Beavers were struggling and looked like they were running a high school scheme. Andersen shot that down, though. Andersen (Sept. 24): "Riot act has been read to this staff. We shall see what takes place. I have got to see better football regardless of who we are playing!!" Andersen (Sept. 24): "Need five graduate transfers in this class!!... I am in a good spot. Got a lot of '(expletive) everything' in me and that's when I am at my best!! Staff understands their (expletive) is on a short rope!! We are not great today but I expect to be better as we move forward this season!! I like this fight!" Andersen (Sept. 25): "Was solid. We are on the same page overall... eight games... see where myself and these coaches can get these kids. I respect Scott and won't hold him hostage. I expect to see improvement in our performance!" Washington was coming to Corvallis in five days. The Huskies were good on offense, defense and special teams. Oregon State, with an extra week to prepare, and Andersen taking a larger role in the coaching of the defense, needed to show improvement. The first half ended with the Huskies up 7-0. It was encouraging. But Washington won 42-7. Andersen (Sept. 30): "That's my best shot!! I will give it that again next week!! That offense is embarrassing!! On me I hired the (expletives)!" USC was next. Again, Andersen was openly frustrated with his assistant coaches. Especially on the offensive side of the ball. His AD, Barnes, showed up in the post-game news conference and offered a vote of confidence. It didn't seem to register with Andersen. Andersen (Oct. 1): "I could give a flying (expletive) about natives! I have not looked or listened to any of that (expletive) good or bad... My plan won't change. Coach my (expletive) off for these kids seven more times!! They will get all I got!! ... I will grind for these fans they deserve that!!!" www.oregonlive.com/sports/oregonian/john_canzano/index.ssf/2017/10/canzano_gary_andersens_exit_ro.html

So, the big question is: Were GA and MH flying first class or "coach"?

Wow. And I believe he gave and we got all he had. Sounds like a rough time, and I wish CGA well. Any person, no matter how tough, can only take so much. He made the right choice...this time.

Why in the world is Andersen texting clownzano at all?? And in such an unprofessional, talking to my wife or therapist manner??? Also, why would clownzano print it?!?! So all private communication to a reporter is printable now? Did he get Andersen's permission?

Clearly was frustrated by the hires he made at OC and DC, which didn't appear to change as time went by. Also helps explain why neither coordinator was asked to become the interim HC. They must know they're out of a job soon, so I wonder how vested they'll be in the team (and recruiting) over the next few weeks.

Their future hangs in the balance now.

This may be rubbing salt in the wounds...but those texts make me feel that even stronger that he needed to go. I know this is doublethink or contradictory, but I also feel at the same time that he abandoned his team and left them in the clutches of his assistants, who were not getting the job done.
Andersen did serious damage to our program.

I think it says a lot that we have two coordinators who didn't get the interim gig nor did one of our assistants that has previous HC experience.. for a cornerbacks (not even secondary) coach who was a grad assistant in 2015. yikes.

.... Also, why would clownzano print it?!?! So all private communication to a reporter is printable now? Did he get Andersen's permission? Can-o-crappo will print anything and everything said or sent to him. I've never had any love for the ducks or their players or coaches but when Can-o-crappo blogged a few years back about the exact details of his encounter with a drunken and angry Colleen Bellotti, it was not Mrs. Bellotti that I was disgusted by. It was the "reporter" who seemed to feel that nothing is private. I would think that if GA really did send these texts to Can-o-crappo that he did not intend for them to become public. That was GA's bad judgement if that's the case. He could have asked anyone and they would have told him that Can-o-crappo is an untrustworthy ratings whore.

I thought our asst coaches were already getting paid the going rate?
Or did he mean he wanted to can them and the University wouldn't let him can them and pay both a new guy and an old guy? I thought assts were on one year deals.
Anyhow, it's all curious.
Obviously, something happened in a meeting with Barnes, and CGA decided to cut bait now.
Still, in all honesty, I think it was the best decision for all. The "no buyout" is gravy.

yeah I seriously doubt that GA texted that azzhole...probably leaked to him by somebody else. Or else GA was a liar about his comments about media and not following it. It also makes zero sense to not fire your incompetent coordinator and OL coach! seriously what the hell was he waiting for? Thank God we only have to endure these guys for a few more games! I even played the Hallelujah Chorus yesterday!! winning
