It's a loss for sure. A 12 game starter in 2016 would provide competition, depth and experience to our team. Also, graduating in 3 years while playing D1 football is not an easy task so I assume he is intelligent and hardworking.
If he doesn't want to be here, it's in the best interest that he leaves, and good luck to him.
But to say it's not big deal is not being accurate.

That... actually really sucks. He was hurt a lot, but he was probably our best CB when healthy. natural talent, shut down corner potential. WAIT... are we talking the same "shut down corner" that was repeatedly "toast" from his 1st Spring Game on?? The same guy that posters were going off on earlier in the GAG era?? I went back to read some of them... had to stop. Man it was painful to read how some here thought how competitive 2016 was and that 'this team had turned the corner... the competitive fire is the best I've seen since..." We are very deep with big talented athletes in the secondary. If a guy doesn't want to be here it is not a loss! If the guy goes to C.Michigan it says more about him than OSU's loss. I'm guessing it was a privately discussed mutual decision. And, weird because I believe he already used his RS year. We're good with what we have... Gonna have to disagree that this was not a loss. I can understand that if his heart wasn't at OSU anymore then he may not have had the mental focus to play for OSU, but the guy was a freshman All-American. That's talent.

However, the Frosh AA went backwards ever since. As far as talent the "next" #22 (Isiah Dunn) is more talented and still a Beaver. Played at a high level on a crap D as a true Frosh in 7 games/5 starts. At 6'1", 185+ he was a a top 100 get at his position. I'm just saying a "big loss" is subjective... but, not 'big' when you have studs lurking who are anxious to be Beavers... (8) Safties on the roster... (6) RS-Soph/Fr (9) CBs on the roster... only one is a Sr We're fine and pretty talented as a group. And... ya never know, MAYBE he he left cuz graduated (can leave and play elsewhere) and not seen as a top 2 CB by this staff???

I think it may be a little unfair to say that Crawford went backwards last year; he was injured in September and never really came back from it.

I hate that cliche. So played. PlayedWithout it, what motivation is there for non-starters? If a player needs an overused sports cliche to get motivated to excel, they aren’t going to be very successful.

Hmm...I didn't know players were looking on this board for instructions. I think it was a poster that used the term, not the coach?

Remind anyone else of 2016, when we lost Mageo and Strong over the offseason? We weren't a good defense last year, but Ugwoegbu and Crawford were two of our better players on that side of the ball. Of course we went on in 2016 to significantly improve on defense, but I attribute that more to a weaker schedule and having a more efficient offense than really great strides by the defense.

You posted this: "Without it, what motivation is there for non-starters?" In any case, it's a free country. Folks can post that all they want, I can post that it's played all I want. I will point out that it was really popular with the Whoregon Sucks when they lost a bunch of qb's. It's kind of like "Natty" that way.

It doesn't remind me of losing Mageo or Strong at all. Those two were basically run off. I guess you could make the argument Ogwoebu was run off in a way.

I wasn't going to get into the coaching reasons for them leaving.....merely that we lost two top peformers on a sh*tty defense and ended up having a better season because of improvements on the other side of the ball. I'm anticipating something similar this season, namely because we will have an offense. And I think Art Pierce is going to be very good this season.
