actually as far as depth charts go - Bears official roster currently only shows 4 RBs: Montgomery and Cohen (locks to make the team), Nall and Pierce. So maybe not a bad move after all, though I imagine they aren't done adding FA RBs. I could be mistaken but Nall might no longer be a practice squad option. At least Pierce could be a practice squad guy.
Bears currently have 10 - Seriously TEN? tight ends on the roster and 4 RBs. That's odd.

Nall made the roster the last, I dunno, 6 or so games of the season as well. He made it in as an ST guy, I think Nall is still a lock for RB3 Pierce was pretty overlooked as an RB, there is some next level speed with him for RB position, and pretty good hands out of the backfield. He has a shot.

He has a shot. Nall made the roster the last 8 games of the season. He mostly played on special teams, but was on the field for eight offensive plays, half of those in the season finale. Of those four plays, he had two carries for eight yards. Unless the Bears pick up another RB, I expect Nall or Pierce to be in the mix.

I believe that Nall is eligible for a third practice squad season, but after playing the second half of last year, that would be a major demotion. The Bears waived Dax Raymond today to get down to nine tight ends. Considering their roster, the Bears selecting Cole Kmet was very humorous (there were a bunch of jokes about it), but the Bears are in desperate need of tight end help. They actually converted Bradley Sowell into a tight end last year (had to switch numbers from 79 to 85) to try and address the need.

The closest that I can get is that both Nall and Warren went to a school called "Central Catholic," but Warren's Central Catholic is in Toledo, so...........

I'm having a problem with the word "testing" in the title of this thread. Seems an odd use of the word.

I caught the Central Catholic connection also. Gotta be it.
