A well-written tweet from a recruit, how refreshing. Bonus points for getting the name of the school correct, too. He has offers from Columbia and Yale, so...

Offer sheets are skewed this year due to camp cancellations. If some high schools delay or cancel their football season then evaluations are further muddied. I trust this staff to offer kids they feel they can develop. 6’6” 238 lb. TE’s with good hands don’t grow on trees. Plus, Cal and Stanford reportedly had high interest, but they wanted to evaluate him in person before offering. I like kids with Ivy League offer. It tells me they have a work ethic off the football field, and the ability to digest a playbook.

He didn't turn down the Ivy league schools; they turned down football - all I can say is that if the Ivy League and Army wanted him, I want him. Three Stars with the brains

Not worried about his offer sheet. He would have had many more with a summer full of camps. It's about what you do when you get on campus...I really like this commit.

We do what we can do. And at the end of the day, any young man that wants to play hard for the Beavers is better than any player the ducks sign, all the time, every day. We already know they are better decision makers.

Pretty natural, but if the only time we can be happy is when we match or beat them in anything, we’ll never be happy! In addition , if you look back over the last 20 years, we won a lot of games with players who weren’t heavily recruited, and many of them played on Sundays. I WANT COVID to disappear. I want the Beavs to outrecruit Oregon and play in the College playoff. I want a lot of things (and pray that the former and hope that the latter occur soon), but I have stopped comparing us to the ducks. They have too many advantages - legit and otherwise - to get stuck on that trap. I’ve found that I’m better off being thankful for what I have than worrying about what I don’t.

"I WANT COVID to disappear." Maybe Ken Copeland can help you. He said he was going to "Blow The Wind of God" and destroy it. Still waiting there Ken....

I agree with beavadelic, we have done well for the overall situation. Jonathan has just started his tenure also, he has improved things immensely in his short time as the H.C. I am confident that will improve as years go by. The other thing I think that is overlooked is that there isn't as much difference between many 3 and 4 stars, even 5 stars at times. Sure there is a percentage difference; in other words if you have 50- 3* players/ compared to 50- 4 & 5* stars players most likely a higher percentage of the second group will be a bit more successful. I don't think however that the potential differences are as great as most of us think. Good coaches make a lot of difference... We have had many 3 star and even some 2 star guys that have gone on to be really great College and in some cases very good pro's. I think this is very true for football, basketball can be changed comparatively faster and make a bigger difference with the numbers compared. We don't have a "bad" basketball staff, but it certainly is not outstanding by any shape. We have also had a great baseball program that I think will continue to be very good with Mitch after he gets some time under his belt. We also have one of the best W.B.B coaches and programs in the country Rueck is a gem. The Covid problem is one that will not just disappear, it's going to take time and sensible government management (which we don't have on a National level at this time, "REALLY SORRY" about what many will think is only a political statement, but it's as obvious as the nose on Jimmy Durante's face {I apologize to the younger generation for that analogy}.). The only good thing about the issues in dealing with Covid 19 is the fact that we are all in the same boat, at times with no paddles and no captain. By saying that, I mean we "ALL" have to deal with it, not just Oregon State. Eventually things will get back to a "NEW" normal, it will take a lot of time to get back to what it was before the pandemic, and we very well may never get there! That is not a negative statement, just cautious and I am optimistic that we will eventually get "somewhere" there! The Tight end that we just signed is a big kid, a young kid and a smart kid. I trust the coaches to improve his game as he has the speed the size and the brains to make that a great possibility! We also have some other very good talent at the position, so he has time to be honed into that 5 star that we hope he is when he leaves Oregon State! At this point in College athletics, (actually pro sports also) I am just hoping that we get to the point that we can enjoy the fantasy escape again. However, firstly we need to be able to function properly as a society...
