Richard was a hustling used car dealer. Was looking at a used F-350 super diesel a few years ago. Called him up. Richard asked me a bunch of questions about the rig and then cut to the bottom line, how much do they want. His advice was, forget the check, pay them cash, get the title, bring it up to his lot for the weekend, he would charge me his normal consignment fee and by Monday morning he and I would have both made a bunch of money. Still have it and has been the best vehicle I have ever owned. He took a lot of time to help a friend when there wasn't a nickel in it for him and he was happy to do it.

Sigh, on talk like a pirate day, with football in the air, I really miss that guy. This morning at a meeting of our business networking organization, one of the presenters blew up into an attempted pirate routine, and all I could think was that Richard would make him look like a scurvy dog if he'd been there for a throw down. And there would have definitely been a throw down - might not get anything else done, but no one would have cared.

Well s%#t completely missed that one. He supplied me with a fair bit of tailgate snacks when I was a hungry college kid. 6 years gone but not forgotten.

Heard the story about Richard cruising the strip in Vegas in the beavemobile with the speakers blaring "Viva Las Vegas" by Elvis during one of OSU's Vegas Bowl trips.
I always smile when I picture that scene.
