Hopefully not a permanent scrubbing of the schedule - interesting that future schedules seem to be gone as well

In May i was very confident there would be football. Now I would be stunned. Freaking people man. just can't get people to do the simple, most minimum amount of precautions.

It's just hard to imagine all the people involved in operating a football team managing to stay uninfected through the whole season traveling from venue to venue. And one infection means quarantining a whole team for a minimum of two weeks - until we get effective treatments to take some of the risk away, it's hard to visualize putting a season together. Even if we get a vaccine approved by the start of next year, getting enough doses to cover everyone still might take another two years - and the whole world is going to want (and each person deserve) a vaccine. I think we are too much in the midst of this to really understand what the end game will be. I am trying not to give up on a lot of stuff that a year ago I took for granted, but a year from now...... So sports in general are a real iffy thing.

Closing schools, shutting down sports, etc, is a tough call that nobody want to make. As of July 8th 156 kids between the ages of 5 and 25 have died of Covid, and from what hit the news it seems most of them have pre-existing conditions that would make them susceptible to passing away if they catch it. When you look at the numbers of school aged kids who pass away any given year (2015 for example) and we've never shut down schools or sports programs it might give some people a bit of pause on what it the best way to proceed.

I'm not arguing for or against shutting down sports. Just some counterpoints to consider.

Personally, I think it’s an easy call. Use logic and reason. Until we see numbers drop, shut things down. It doesn’t matter if people are dying (and they still are) or not. It doesn’t matter if it only affects old people (they deserve better). It doesn’t matter what the economy does (we spend billions on crap like wars and foreign aid). Let’s do the right thing. And let’s just get through this. Yes, it sucks not having sports. Yes, it sucks that we can’t go get a beer. But what’s the alternative? Drag this on so that we lose another year?

Zero surprise...the whole schedule will have to be reworked going forward. Nothing is off the table currently...It looks to me college sports could be in trouble going forward if we don't have the revenue from college football. Can't eliminate tens if not hundreds of millions of revenue from football that pays for almost all of the other sports minus MBB.

Looks to me like only an extraordinary level of generosity by alumni can save sports at a lot of schools. But priorities of families and risk management are going to be weighed in the balance.

I think the landscape will be permanently changed. I believe we will have no season. I hope a vaccine comes quickly. I hope we keep the concern on the vulnerable . The good thing is deaths are decreasing in terms of percentage of folks tested and not yet tested. We do not know how this pandemic will affect people’s quality of life in the future. There is no way to know and to give up hope, get angry, or blame the Government is nothing but hot air. Just be smart wash hands and wear a mask when necessary. It will pass. Will we?
