Honestly I hope Oregon pushes the season back a couple months as well. Overall Oregon is doing a much better job than other states, and if we actually DO stay on the mask use our numbers are going to peak and drop within the next month. The bigger impact on recruiting is no football at all... I strongly believe a vaccine is available by November, Be it Moderna's or Oxford's. We have 3 different vaccines starting up Phase III trials this week, and in essentially the first day it was available something like 140,000 people signed up to be a volunteer for the study, in which they needed 120,000. It is not an if, it is a when. I think the when is surprisingly soon. It'd be a major bummer if something comes up that disrupts it. |

By eliminating the non-conference games, the Pac-12 can delay its start by 3 weeks or so, which will give more time for watching how the pandemic progresses. Given that we don't even start classes here until the end of Sept in whatever form they take will not impact things like a delayed fall camp. I hope you are right about a vaccine, but as I've said before, 18-22 year olds are going to be near the end of the line for available doses. Lots of us older and almost old codgers and vulnerable/front line people are going to be asked to go first. As much as I am jonesing for some sports, I am not going to give up my place in line. |

One thing to note, is whichever vaccine if first, the other will be a matter of weeks behind it. For Moderna's part, it has production capacity of 2.5 million doses per day once approved. The Oxford vaccine, I am less informed on. I know it is a different design, which in a lot of ways is good for us all because it may help fill gaps that Moderna creates in terms of potential side effects, contraindications or other issues with effectiveness. You are right, it will take a while for the vaccine to roll out, but production capacity will be remarkable. |

I am wondering about how will that work for my daughter who is planning on soccer, basketball and lacrosse in HS. |

My wife teaches in a small district, one middle school, one high school. the two share a campus. Pretty much the entire football team is also the entire wrestling team and the entire baseball team. I know this is an issue for all schools big and small, but I think it is even more so for smaller districts. |

Yah, my high school is small - trying to play more sports than are normally scheduled may leave no team fully staffed. |
