The Pac-12 has cancelled its non conference games. It was my understanding that they would take a further look in the latter part of July. Has anything been said of what the conference is thinking and how it might tie in with the rest of the country?
The LA area, Phoenix, and Tucson are hot spots that would seem to make playing this fall difficult at best.
Any news would help.

It is conceivable that some states require out of state travelers to quarantine for two weeks. Utah does for travelers from high risk areas. How can a team from California, for example, travel to Utah, play, and leave? And Oregon is thinking of putting the same kind of restriction on out of state travelers.

I can't imagine (nor fathom, WHY) it would. I FEEL for the athletes. I was one...once. I understand the economic impact on the schools(s). It's hard to put into words. Having NEVER been through something like this, and having NO experience dealing with it to compare to..... I dunno. A "Faustian Bargain?"

But we've had this discussion before. It's about more than deaths. We don't know what covid does to bodies. And people in the 19-23 year old demographic can spread it also. There needs to be a plan on how to test and what happens when positives happen. It's not easy and the universities are on their own on how to do this. I hope they can pull it off.

Unfortunately, i one month, I don't see how. The Covid risks are too great. Dying, long term affects(?). That's just the players. Coaches, staff, managers, everyone else involved. Then the fans, stadium workers, etc.
Can't see it happening.

Wilner (the SJ Mercury PAC-12 reporter) says the league is finalizing a 10-game conference schedule starting mid-September.

Then the fans, stadium workers, etc. Can't see it happening. Well, cancelling OOC essentially gives us two months, with games now not starting (in theory) until late September. I still agree. I think the conference and the NCAA needs to start making plans for a January start of the season. Yes, it competes with basketball, but can you image BBall games on Thursday, football on Sat, BBall on Sunday all year? with the potential for some doubleheaders... silver linings man! Could be worse, you could be paying full room and board ($3500/term) for you daughter to go to ONE class in person next term (if they don't pull the plug on that in the next month and a half)... FWIW, I think we are in our newest peak, hospitalizations have stabilized and dropped slightly after an aggressive climb for the last month. by the end of August, if people are good about masks and stuff, we could be looking like the end of May again.

"I FEEL for the athletes."

Here's the skinny on Gerry (with a G) Faust. They evidently thought he could bring his success from a really great high school program to D1 football. Nada.
