I walk around town before work - exercise is not just for 20 year olds - and I deal with a broad cross section of people at work. In Corvallis, my experience has been that the younger people are much higher users of masks than the people over 60.

When I'm walking or running and I see people outside I don't see any masks. I don't wear one but give plenty of space to others. But in somewhere like Safeway, I felt the older folks were about at 95% and the others maybe around 60%. With the mandate now it's basically 100%. When I'm in the market or hardware store in Yoncalla, it may be 50% now.

We never did shop there often, and it was striking to see so many undaunted by what was/is going on.

Here in Coos Bay / North Bend....it’s a mixture. Safeway more so. We have a great youth baseball going on during the week and it’s neat to see the youngsters having fun dressed up in their uniforms.
Side note: Oregon live is a true liberal network....they ran a front page article on July 10th stating that Oregon would experience a significant increase in Covid with daily cases running between 1,100 and 7,300 per day. Obviously a scare tactic.....wonder if they will apologize to their readers about this flawed report.....Nahhhh won’t happen....I keep forgetting they represent the Portland folks

OSU's TRACE study just estimated the infection rate in Hermiston (Umatilla County) to be 17%. I was out and about yesterday morning running a few errands, and the only place I didn't see masks was the Recall Kate Brown signature gathering booth.

Covid-19 turned out to be ahelluvalot worse than you (and other deniers) ever thought it would be (flu). I've got news for you; Oregon Live has NOTHING TO DO with deaths caused by the virus. They got their info from OHA, like every other news org does. Should they underestimate the potential death count?? If you didn’t like that “liberal, Portland only” site, you’re gonna HATE this from that “librul rag,” Financial Times.” Over 235,000 U.S. deaths by November. I honestly hope you and yours are well, and stay that way.

Did you ever stop to consider that the governor's orders have prevented COVID from really taking off?
I mean, look at eastern Oregon right now as an example. They didn't see a reason to mask or to follow the rules and now the virus has spread like wildfire.
So if you think the numbers are low, thank your governor and thank your fellow Oregonians for masking up. Don't blame the newspaper for spreading hype. We've seen what the virus CAN do, and we have seen the benefits of taking precautions.
It isn't political and it isn't rocket science. It is easy to see what works and what doesn't.

Hmmmm so why is it that Sweden never implemented jack diddly ...just said let’s use common sense ...no shutdown...no government overreach....schools still open...so my take is that I can use common sense ....you ignore the impacts of shutdown and the destructive consequences all for the sake of the almighty Covid.....if you are over 70....yep it’s a concern but has little to no impact on the younger generation but we try to hype that up as well. So I’ll give credit to the common sense folks since they are the ones will keep this country moving forward.

Perspective on the last six months in Oregon Covid deaths: 325 Other deaths 16,800
Is there something amiss here or are we just all forgetting the other issues that impact us more than the Covid.

The US has largest old, overweight, diabetic and cardiac risk population in the world, largely by lifestyle choice. Frankly, we're sitting ducks for covid in comparison to other countries. I disagree with a lot of the choices our Governor has made over the years, and some of the decisions she's made on the covid crisis, but I gotta hand it to her, the decisions she's made in regards to shutdowns have probably kept us safer, largely because we can't rely on a lot of folks having common sense.
