Why was it granted, can anybody say, did the rules change or ? No hardship of any kind involved that I can see, not an Uck thing, I'd question it for any team. I hope they are even somewhat consistent on this , the next player that requests, given the same circumstances had better be treated the same , just sayin'

Speculation related to Mikesell is that the situation was untenable for her return to Maryland, perhaps including a verbally abusive coach in Frese or significant issues with one or or more returning teammates. Mikesell expressed cautious optimism early to the media that she had a good chance to be immediately eligible. And her hope was justified by the NCAA's recent ruling.

Thanks beaverhoopsfan, that helps a lot, and I realize there are issues involved that maybe the public shouldn't be privy to. It makes you wonder when you see a large exodus at any team, Maryland lost 3 : wbbblog.com/womens-basketball-transfers-fall-2019-summer-2020/7/It hurts a little that OSU lost even 2. There are teams on that blog that are losing half or more of their rosters, makes you wonder. I know sometimes the beloved coach has left but others...?

Well, that really helps the ducks. I know, as mentioned above, that every situation is different, but it's too bad Destiny wasn't immediately eligible for the Beavs. Both players were Big 10 Freshman of the year. Both were at Maryland. Both received immediate eligi....oops, one received immediate eligibility at their new school. Again, don't get me wrong. I get that every situation is different, I just hope fairness reigns.....come on Kat, get that extra year!

So, even fewer minutes for their incoming freshmen. Someone's not gonna be happy.

Maryland has internal issues within their program. I believe the NCAA looks into patterns like that. Just like it in volleyball if players decide to transfer from OSU articles and accusations about the abuse and racism carry alot of weight in the NCAA's decisions regardless of what the administration does at that school in question

Not that I am aware of. Probably had little to no chance.

The NCAA released a statement that pretty much implies that they would be much more liberal this coming season with respect to granting transfer waivers due to the uncertainty surrounding the effect the virus will have on the coming season. I also felt that they had to lighten up somewhat from their hard-core stance of last season.

continuing this discussion, I expect it will be a slow week without the game today, from HerHoopStats (go there to read more):
The NCAA Division I Council approved a blanket waiver that will allow transfers to play immediately this year on Dec. 16. While most transfers already had their waiver requests approved, there were a few players who previously had their waivers denied. Jenn Hatfield wrote about ten transfers who could make a big impact for their teams back in July, and a few of them have already turned into key playmakers.

I predict HVL will in Corvallis for her senior year to be closer to family in the PNW. Imagine the playing time she would get.
