Oh, hell.....the kids are negotiating. They're asking for the Moon, but will settle for some comet/astroid/space dust/debris. I would have "thunk" most of you would be proud of them. You want to be entertained by these kids? "Whatever the market will bear."

This statement is really stupid (IMHO) Because unjust rules prevent the 98% of college football and basketball players who won’t go pro from capitalizing economically on what would otherwise be the most valuable years of our lives, including many Black players from low-income homes, #WeAreUnited. Assumption is that the 'valuable' is financial....Come on man. Get a degree and get a career in your degree's area, work hard, get promoted, earn good money to support yourself and your family. Your college years are NOT the most valuable years of your life (financially). What do you expect to get millions to play college sports? I think you lost most of them with work hard. That's out of line. And mostly inaccurate.

I'm all with the players on future medical insurance and safety protocol. Why should a player contract the virus while representing a school and be on his/her own to fight the virus? A scholarship doesn't do much good if your lungs are wasted.

Future insurance for six years beyond their eligibility? Where is the money coming for that from - and it would be expected to cover any injury, not some past football injury? Insanity. Jaydon's definitely earned his scholarship - but the idea that his play is worth tens of thousands beyond that scholarship is ludicrous.

Tuition, fees, books, room and board, and god only knows what under the table things plus a degree if you choose to work at it, is not bad for a teenage part time job. That is beau coup money. Shut up and go to work.

Shut up and go to work. Oh I don't know maybe coaches don't need to be paid 2, 3, 5, 8 million a year. Maybe Larry Scott could take a pay cut. Maybe Barnes is paid a 100k too much.

Just wait when players start negotiating during recruiting on which school is going to pay the most for their services. We ain't seen nothing yet.

Too bad all schools don’t have Stanford’s $27.7 billion endowment.
It seems like some of these demands were written by spoiled rich kids who attend spoiled rich kids schools. Half the schools in the Pac 12 will struggle to keep their sports alive during this crazy COVID times. Demanding that the schools use reserve funds probably set aside for the operation and improvement of the university as a whole only for sports is very selfish and childlike behavior. I’m disappointed.
6 year scholarships? Nah. Be grateful for what you get.
Yes, they should secure clarity about COVID protocols and costs. And probably having representation available when they sign forms is a sound request. But asking for everything makes it too simple to throw it all out.

I don't blame the players at all. The NCAA has been greedy for a while, which has been trickling down to the athletic departments, and is finally hitting the players. If everyone else hadn't been so greedy about making money at non-profit universities, we wouldn't have a problem. The best solution is to separate the sports teams from the schools and the sports like college football can survive and become minor leagues for the NFL and NBA, and for baseball players can go pro right out of high school. That would help schools save money and allow players to be paid appropriately to the revenue they would be bringing in.
