And predict that half the SEC football games will not be played because of virus outbreaks on various teams, or contact with infected people by players and coaches.

You’re probably right. Honestly, I don’t think they’ll even make it to September 26th at the rate this is all going.

And predict that half the SEC football games will not be played because of virus outbreaks on various teams, or contact with infected people by players and coaches. Your prediction, or your desire? I think it is mentally healthier to hope they pull it off safely and successfully.

But everything about football goes against all the precautions and advice of scientists and doctors. Period.

But everything about football goes against all the precautions and advice of scientists and doctors. Period. So far the Dr’s advising the SEC, ACC, Big 12 and the NFL say it’s safe. Science and the opinions of Dr’s are not binary or monolithic. Science is literary the pursuit of questioning things and people get second opinions from Dr’s all the time.

I always get a kick out of folks that end their post with “period.” As if their opinion (and that’s all it is right now with this) is fact. They don’t know, we don’t know, the doctors don’t know or they’d all be in agreement. I have noticed that pro-shutdown posters use this the most. Arrogant.

If the other conferences do successfully have a season the Pac-12 and Big Ten are screwed for the future I don't even know if they can recover. It will be such a competitive disadvantage for them how can they possibly have football in the spring before the NFL season and then come back and then have fall football again it's not happening they're not having football this year if the other conferences have football during the fall. The only way they'll have football in the spring is if the ACC, SEC and Big 12 have to have it during the Spring.

If the latest round of studies showing high prevalence of Myocarditis in even asymptomatic positive Covid-19 cases turns out to hold up to scientific rigor, then the other three conferences will be following suit very quickly. And if they don't I expect to see a lot of student athletes sitting out.

I think it is mentally healthier to hope they pull it off safely and successfully. My desire is that I would be prepping to watch Pac-12 football! My dream is that this would all go away. My understanding of reality is that now neither is going to happen very fast.

Last week, I was ignorant. Been called worse by better people. No big deal.

Science is literary the pursuit of questioning things and people get second opinions from Dr’s all the time. Do you have any sources for that statement? What I see is that the doctors are putting together a program to keep things as safe as possible, which is different than being able to decide whether the season should go or not. My hunch is that the decision isn’t theirs to make. Instead, they simply advise along the way. Let me know if I’m wrong here. I’d love to read a doctor explaining why football should go on, not simply how to try to make it happen.
