For someone that is a tax expert.
Can one claim charitable deductions for the 2020 yearly donation since there is no benefit gained from that donation? In addition, if we choose to “donate” our season ticket cost (assuming that is an option), can that be included as a donation? Does the University need to provide us with tax donation records?

I am no tax expert. If you are donating your season ticket cost to the University, my personal advice would be to get a tax receipt. If you get a tax receipt, you should probably be able to deduct it on your federal individual income taxes.
