Hmmm...wonder what prompted that seemingly lateral move, a step down in program stature too.

Hmmm...wonder what prompted that seemingly lateral move, a step down in program stature too. His position was eliminated with the budget cuts....so maybe that. Eric is a great guy and a friend that I will miss.

Eric Ely...great dude. My buddy invited him to his 10 year old daughter's basketball practice and Eric showed up and coached the girls. Great community guy.

This is a major loss. Only heard great things about this guy, and my personal interactions have always been very helpful and positive. Very sad to hear this.

Eric will be missed. How about offer Mark Campbell back to the program?

Eric will be missed. How about offer Mark Campbell back to the program? Eric was the Associate AD for Women's BB. That position was eliminated. He was not a coach anymore. We are full up on coaches and Campbell burnt too many bridges when he left.

Campbell is probably gonna be waiting quite a while to take over in Eugene. I would be really surprised if he doesn't become a head coach somewhere else sooner than later.

Glad Eric landed on his feet. He goes to Lubbock, Adlee comes to Corvallis. Good for everybody.

Sitting in the stands at Gill seemingly a lifetime ago, I was quite impressed with the obvious respect and affection opposing coaching staffs exhibited for Coach Ely when he would walk out onto the court ahead of the game. While I never interacted with him directly, it was also obvious that he was a great asset to our team. A loss - good he landed on his feet - and one more step towards a "new normal" in the sport that is not necessarily a positive for the Beavers.
Sigh. Go Beavers!

Campbell I am guessing is heir apparent with tsdtr. Graves is 57. Campbell is probably gonna be waiting quite a while to take over in Eugene. I would be really surprised if he doesn't become a head coach somewhere else sooner than later. Campbell and his wife are both from the Northwest and from what I hear want to stay in the NW to raise their family which limits his head coaching options. Graves has been coaching for over 30 years, I would not be surprised if he doesn't hang it up in the next 5 or 6 years. Campbell would be in his mid 40s at that time? I would not be surprised if the possibility of Campbell taking over at that time has not been discussed.
