to another season of OSU football, you should know that this Duck fan is still suffering agony from last year's loss to the Beavers. I hope my misery brightens your day today.
Your poster in pain. Your Duck in despair.

Your Duck in despair. Hey I never want anyone to be in misery.....that’s not why the game is played. I’d say bummed out it a better way to put it....like I’m bummed out after getting swept by the Ducks in baseball.... Your team has been a pretty dominant team for a while now. So the Beavs winning the War last fall helped boost our spirits for sure. Here’s to great rivalry continuing on and may the Beavs win consecutive years....been a long time since that happened in football I think.

Maybe I should have said I make my wife miserable with my moaning about losses to OSU. Well deserved victory for the Beaver football team over Oregon in 2020. And great wins by OSU over Oregon in basketball this past season as well. I just thought I'd let you guys know that this *uck fan ain't happy. I do look forward to the next matchup between Ducks and Beavers - no matter the sport.

I hope my misery brightens your day today. As a matter of fact it does. Me too, and I let go of things better than my wife does concerning our rivalry results.

Those games seem so long ago. They were fantastic and unexpected in a great way. Getting swept in baseball (our sport), was painful and unexpected in a bad way. My dogs hid in their crates, while I melted down, as the Beavs coughed up the lead in game 3. My wife wanted me in a crate about then, too. I might have to rewatch 2020 civil war game when I get home tonight.

Your Duck in despair. Probably no different than myself as a beaver fan feel about losing the way we did to the ducks in baseball. Thank goodness my wife was out of town and didn't have to listen to me yell at the television. Lol

Attended a few games at Parker / Reser. I do not hate the OSU players, coaches or fans. I just hate to see the Ducks lose to the Beavers. Hence the effect on me persists - those results from 2020 are never going to go away.

My dogs hid in their crates, while I melted down, as the Beavs coughed up the lead in game 3. My wife wanted me in a crate about then, too. I might have to rewatch 2020 civil war game when I get home tonight. I'd rather watch the 2021 Pac-12 Tournament Semifinal. It involves fewer Gebbia injuries. I am still upset that the play before was not ruled a touchdown, because that blown call tanked the rest of the season. The last time the Civil War was won by Oregon State before 2020? 2016. The last time that Oregon State won more games than lost against Oregon in basketball? 2019. The last time that those two happened during the same school year? 1993-1994. Oregon State won the Great Oregon Civil War 15-12 in 1993. Oregon State then beat Oregon 79-75 in the Far West Classic Championship Game at Memorial Coliseum and then beat Oregon 101-91 in double overtime at Gill Coliseum. The Beavers only beat one other team outside of Gill and that was the Semifinal of the Far West Classic. Oregon State finished 6-21 in basketball, 2-16 in the Pac-10. It is also the first time that Oregon State has won the Great Oregon Civil War in football and an AAWU/Pac-8/10/12 Championship in basketball since 1965-1966. That was also the last year that Oregon State won the Great Oregon Civil War in football and also played in the Elite Eight in basketball. The last time that Oregon swept Oregon State in baseball? 2011. The last time that Oregon State won the Great Oregon Civil War in football, won more games than it lost against Oregon in basketball and lost five games to Oregon got swept in Eugene in baseball? 1973-74. In football, Oregon State won 17-14 in Eugene. In basketball, the Beavers lost in Eugene 67-61, won a nonconference game against Oregon in Portland 92-79 and won 81-74 on the final day of the regular season. In baseball, Oregon State won the series in Corvallis but got swept in Eugene: 12-2, 10-9 and 6-5. Oregon won the Pac-8 North but got swept by USC in the Pac-8 Championship Series: 11-6 and 14-1. The Trojans wound up winning the National Championship. In 1973 in basketball , Oregon State also beat Oregon 80-60 in Corvallis and 68-56 in Portland but lost in Eugene 88-81. In baseball in 1973, the Ducks won five-of-six against the Beavers, two-of-three in Corvallis and sweeping in Eugene. But Oregon won the 1972 Great Oregon Civil War in football 30-3 (the Ducks' only win between 1963 and 1975). Between 1967-1969, three-game-series were less common in conference play. (The AAWU/Pac-8 consolidated the conference for three years in baseball before deciding to split it in half, North and South.) In Oregon State's Giant Killers year, the football team beat Oregon 14-10. The 1967-68 basketball Beavers swept the Ducks in four conference games, two each in Corvallis and Eugene. But Oregon beat Oregon State twice in Eugene in 1968 in baseball to sweep the season series: 5-4 and 5-3 (our media guide says 8-3 for some reason). Oregon State football won the 1968 Great Oregon Civil War 41-19, but basketball split in 1968-69. In 1965, Oregon State won the Great Oregon Civil War in football 19-14 after Thurman Bell comes up with an interception at the five as time expired. A brawl broke out involving players and several fans that was only quelled by the Oregon band playing "The Star-Spangled Banner." In basketball, Oregon and Oregon State split the nonconference games, each winning at home. In conference play, Oregon State entered the game in Eugene, only needing a win to win the AAWU Championship over UCLA. The Beavers won 49-42 to clinch their first conference championship since 1955. The win eliminated UCLA from the Tournament in 1966. 1966 is the only year in the decade between 1963 and 1974 that UCLA did not win a National Championship in basketball. Oregon State beat Oregon again in Corvallis in the season finale for good measure 68-54. The Beavers beat Houston in the Sweet Sixteen 63-60 in Los Angeles before losing to Utah in the Elite Eight 70-64. In baseball, Oregon State and Oregon played in two different three-game series. Oregon State won the first two games to one. In the second series (two games in Eugene and one in Corvallis), Oregon swept Oregon State. In 1917, Oregon State won the Great Oregon Civil War 14-7 in Portland. In 1917-18, Oregon State went a perfect 15-0 in basketball, winning the Pacific Coast Conference North. The Beavers swept all four meetings with the Ducks. Oregon coming no closer than 11 in the season finale. Interestingly enough, Oregon State was one of two 15-0 teams in NCAA basketball in 1917-18. The other team is North Dakota. The two teams schedules were: North Dakota@ Northern State @ Ellendale Normal @ Jamestown @ Concordia @ St. John's (Minnesota) @ Gustavus Adolphus @ St. Olaf Jamestown @ Fargo College Fargo YMCA Fargo YMCA North Dakota State Concordia @ North Dakota State Fargo College Oregon State@ Mt. Angel College @ Willamette Pacific (unclear where played) Chemawa (unclear where played) Pacific (unclear where played) @ Washington @ Washington Oregon Oregon Washington State Washington State Washington Washington @ Oregon @ Oregon Syracuse claims the National Championship with a 16-1 record in 1917-18. Washington State claims the National Championship from 1916-17, and Oregon State beat Washington State in 1917-18. Hmm. Oregon State cobbled together a baseball team in 1918 out of 10 players and were self-coached. Oregon State swept Willamette. Then, the Beavers dropped six of eight against the Ducks, losing three-of-four in both Corvallis and Eugene. One of the players was drafted at that point, so the season ended.

I came home from work one day and I saw a quacks sweatshirt on the kitchen table.......I've never had any quacks gear in my house.....I couldn't believe it! Turns out my wife got it for our nephew who's a quacks fan, one of only two I can think of in our family. I'm not sure how she could take it to the register and pay for it, let alone, bring it home!

When my kids were growing up and I wanted them to know that I was serious about a topic, I'd tell them, "I'd rather you become a duck than . . . "
as in,
"I'd rather you become a duck than be out getting stoned . . . " "I'd rather you become a duck than get a girl pregnant . . . " "I'd rather you become a duck than give backtalk to a cop . . . "
That always got their attention.

I'll never forget one of my proudest dad moments... Son is in 1st grade, comes home after school, clearly upset, nearly in tears. What's wrong? Dad, I really want my friend Sullivan to come over and play after school, but he can't. Oh no, why can't he? Because he said likes the ducks and you said no duck fans are allowed in our house.

This reminds me when my soon to be wife moved in with me 20 years ago. I'm giving her closet space and she's unpacking and she had a ducks sweatshirt. I said "you're gonna have to get rid of that" and she thought i was joking. She said her parents got it for her (they moved to Oregon prior to her) and she didn't buy it. I said "i'm not kidding. That's got to go" and it was a Goodwill item within the week. Engagement stayed intact. Now we have two kids who hate the ducks almost as much as I. Storybook ending.
