I'm torn on this one. My orange colored glasses have us thumping those guys, but what gives me pause is....
They played a great game on the road last week, although it was against CAL who I had on my worst team in the North list from day one.
I'm also remembering that Coug QB running all over us last year. I think that was maybe a lack of game tape to prepare and a completely different DL.
Right now the Beavs are favored by 3.5.... I'd like to take that bet but I'm struggling to find the confidence. Help me out here folks... our passing game will return to glory... correct?
Anyone watch WSU this year? Looking for all the scouting reports I can get. Statistically there Defense is looking solid.
But they lost to Utah St at home, lost to SC at home and then lost to Utah on the road by 11.... you have to love college football!
Bring on the positive vibes!

It's a conference road game.. never easy, I don't care who you are playing...I don't think they will thump WSU.. should be close game... I think OSU wins like 34-28 sort of game. OSU is capable of winning every game they have left and just as easy could lose every game they have left.. so I think that is why OSU will win.. they aren't at point where they can over look any opponent or just assume they will win games so.. that plus Smith being the head coach will keep them focused on one game at a time

Never easy up there. I expect a battle. Beavs are looking pretty damned unflinchable though.

Never easy up there. I expect a battle. Beavs are looking pretty damned unflinchable though. Well their passing game didn’t look that way ......Nolan made very few good throws.....last TD Drive was only time he had a couple of good passes on a drive. To win in Palouse, we will need a better passing game. I’m hoping our defense continues to shine and get more pressure on their QB. We didn’t have an answer for UW wildcat formation so Smith needs to get a solution for that due to the mobility of WSU quarterback. If we do that.....I like our chances

I still haven't run all the statistical hypothetical computer stimulation models yet, but I'm busy gathering intel from the degen underground. Line did open at -3 OSU and now sits at -3.5 at most books. Draft Kings at one point handicapped it at -4. This sounds about right. I realistically expect a battle. Do we just crush them and maybe WAZZU lays an egg? Well, I wouldn't be surprised if that happened too. Stay tuned and I will release my picks for Saturday most likely on Friday or Saturday morning. Bleeda and Bleeda junior (high school senior) will be doing the 1day roadtrip thing to the Palouse. We may hit up that OSU Alumni Association "meet and greet" at the brewery just off campus, pregame. If you are planning on making the trip, drop me a message. I'm also on Twitter beavableeda. I don't post much, but I've been in "Wiseguy mode" lately, so I may start producing more content. Sometimes you lay in the weeds and sometimes you just smoke it. BLEED IT! -rwg

I think the WSU run game is not equal to ours ! We are going to need a very disruptive pass rush combined with downfield coverage , as well as a linebacker to key on the QB taking off ! Barring injuries , we should be able to run at least as good as we did vs the huskies. We need more of the fly sweeps and plays off of that action. Our ability to pass should be improved due to getting past issues vs huskies defense .Need some more action going across the middle on quick action passes ! Also. quicker reads out of the backfield for protected screens using the tight ends and a fullback ( Coletto ). If we can stay up through the game , I see us winning by 10-14 !

As a newbie here and realizing the orange colored glasses are often in play I'm wondering if anyone else is concerned with the fact that Nolan's "body of work" is not very large and the SC game could indeed be the anomaly??
UW's defense is decent, but their pass defensive numbers are greatly skewed by who they've played and the success of the run game against their D. I would think that WSU will make Nolan beat them. Pressure and mixed coverages vs UW really rattled him. He had extremely happy feet all night, had noticeable less velocity on some of his throws, and his best throw was off his back foot and inches away from being deflected.
I'm certainly not advocating that there is a better QB on the roster. Although I still think the QB of the future was hurt in camp and is recovering nicely from shoulder surgery. But, I am concerned that Nolan's not as complete of QB as many on this board think. He is very raw in terms of being a QB in this type of system. His mechanics and fundamentals come and go. And JS's comments on spending this week reinforcing his fundamentals lead me to believe it will be a season long issue. Maybe a very up and down game to game performances. The key is no extremes like the UW game or teams will just shut off the TE passing game as OSU will need them in the run game.
Rolo is very skilled at manipulating defenses and I'm thinking they see Nolan as the weak link. As is our defending mobile QBs and tackling at the 2nd level. UW's QB is not a real mobile guy and made several big throws by keeping plays alive with his feet. UW's backs made OSU look silly at times and Borghi is elusive and has given OSU troubles his entire career. I think the line on this game is very close either way.
But, if Nolan doesn't come out fundamentally sound and OSU is one dimensional, this could become a one sided affair on a homecoming weekend.

I believe WSU has lead in the second half of every game...don't take them lightly.

Here is why my optimism is a bit higher than some...our common opponent...USC. Gotta be careful with these comparisons but this one is solid. WSU's "mobile QB" only put up 14 in the first quarter on USC AT HOME then was a goose egg for the next 3 quarters. Nolan had the game of his career dropping 45 on USC in the COLISEUM one week later. WSU is NOT USC. Not seeing where WSU is better than that situation.

I saw several drops that were part of the problem. Case in point, the very first past to Musgrave. He was wide open, but the DB made a break on the ball and broke it up. Musgrave seemed to sit and wait for the ball to reach him rather than work his way back to ball. If he works his way back to the ball, he makes the catch. They just didn't allow Nolan to get into a rhythm. Those DBs did blanket the receivers pretty well though.

The pick was a bad throw, but Nolan had 3 dropped balls by our receivers. Those are completed and he goes 10-15. The fact is that we just didn't try to throw much in that game.

I was looking at the pac 12 defensive stats. I was pleasantly surprised we are tied for #2 in the conference in sacking the other team. USC leads the conf with 16 and we have 12. WSU has 8. I like the thinking here... however... with a mobile QB... sacks are harder to come by and an aggressive upfield rush can open up the running lanes. In all categories listed we have a superior defense to WSU. My heart says we are going to win... but last years game is clouding my judgement.

The Dline was getting pressure on Nolan and, more importantly, the UW secondary was having an extraordinary game. They are the best secondary in the conference. Nolan had few options downfield all game. We do not see WSU having that kind of success. UW defense >>>>> WSU defense.
