A few things: 1. Do we not have wide receivers that can run crossing patterns or must we rely on tightly covered tight ends? 2. Am I missing something but we should have run the ball over and over again down their throat instead far to often we got cute and went away from what worked. 3. It appeared our defensive coordinator never changed things up on defense. Is it possible to try a safety or corner blitz? Instead we tried to use three linemen and occasionally a linebacker. There was no pressure. The QB had all day. Very disappointing. The run was getting stuffed up the middle much of the time and we broke several long ones on cut backs or getting out wide......should've gotten our backs out wide more, imo. I'd like to see the all 22 film, cuz I'm not sure what's going on in the passing game. Nolan makes a beautiful throw and then 2 or 3 bad ones.....also, he seemed unsure when to tuck and run, and I feel like maybe he should've had more designed runs.....the O honestly seemed pretty vanilla to me

Let’s just hope Niner doesn’t lose the locker room after the fake punt and throwing it every down at the end of the game. This was some of the worst coaching I have ever seen. Ridiculous. Re: Losing the locker room.

Let’s just hope Niner doesn’t lose the locker room after the fake punt and throwing it every down at the end of the game. This was some of the worst coaching I have ever seen. Per O-live:
Coach walked in and apologized to the team for attempting an unsuccessful fake punt in the second half from midfield. It’s the one play Smith said he immediately wished he could have back because the gamble put his defense on a short field. Smith needs to knock that s%#t off. Its making it hard to win games. Its understandable to go for it 4 & 2 on an opponent's 35 yard line. Its understandable to be a gambler in 2018, when your defense is getting shredded for 40+ a game. What isn't understandable is keeping the "river boat gambler" mentality going, when you've reached a certain parity with other Pac 12 rosters. This is 2021 not 2018: "Act like you know what you are doing"

We might make a bowl only because the conference is terrible. Our defense got exposed so badly did any over ever really believe we were going to get a stop in the second half? Beavs just couldn’t handle the prosperity! Thud and back to reality and mediocrity. I damn sure would have rather lost to Washington than the Cougs. The Cougs are a laughingstock and now we are the but of their jokes. Two counterpoints: 1) I had really hoped that Beaver fans had learned to stop with the "mediocre" label. First of all, when even 9 win seasons were called "mediocre" back in the day, it really just became a word used by fans to cry about losing any games. Secondly, the Beavers are still trying to get back to the level that fans like to refer to as mediocre. The Beavers haven't had a winning season since 2013. Today's loss is not a "thud" and the reality after this game is the same as the reality before this game -- The OSU Beavers are trying to get back to being in every game and winning more than they lose. 2) Any Beaver fan who thinks the Cougs are a laughingstock either hasn't paid any attention to Pac-12 football for the past decade or is trying to be ironic. Since 2012, WSU has won 56 football games. Since 2012, OSU has won 32 football games. Also, watching WSU's game last week against Cal was a good way to go into this game knowing that playing WSU, especially in Pullman, was not going to be anything like a sure win for the Beavers.
