Atown's synopsis reminded me of how the 2019 game ended at WSU... "The final drive of the game came after the Washington State defense stopped Oregon State on a fourth-and-6 with 1:10 left in the game. Anthony Gordon then led Washington State on a 10-play, 58-yard drive, capped by Borghi's touchdown." Too bad we didn't try it ourselves. A slightly shorter run... but even the pass happy Pirate new that running it in the red zone at the end of the game can get you a TD. That is all. On their last TD, we had 3 guys in the box. Any drunk pirate could figure out the call was to run Borghi

Seemingly everyone else covering a sweep. I remember looking at that formation and wondering why they were leaving the middle so wide open when the WSU's offense was at our 3 yard line. It baffles me to this day.

My personal vote would be to not renew Tibesar and promote Bray. He's ready to be a DC and if not for us, it will be for someone soon.

Agree to disagree but I will say that I've thoroughly enjoyed your brief time on this message board and hope you continue to write well reasoned and informative posts.

He is adept at drawing out emotions in his readers. Sells the paper. But I reread his piece on the WSU disaster a 2nd time and realize he has a point. Why did the coaches completely go away from the run on the last drive? I can’t think of a logical series of thought why they thought that was a good idea given the insane success they were having at 7 ypg. It really rings of the poor play calling we would often see from Langsdorf. I am bewildered. Why? Because it was working. The first six plays went for 57 yards. Three pass plays and three running plays. But that took 3:11 off the clock. Oregon State's last eight plays were six pass plays and two running plays. The reason? There just wasn't enough time to run more running plays. Canzano is an idiot. He was not right. The coaches did what they could. If there was a little more time, they could have run more running plays. There just was not time to do it. OSU was inside the 30 with over 90 seconds left and timeouts. They were on the 14 yard line with 1:14 left after the pass interference. In those final 8 plays OSU ran one run play and completed zero passes. The prior drive OSU ran 5 straight running plays, no passes, going 50 yards for a TD. That's 10 YPC. Oregon State rushed for over 300 yards prior to the last drive. Canzano is spot on.

We had options, we tried to put the game in Nolan's hands and he did not deliver. Not to mention he had been struggling basically for 8 straight quarters. The run game was OSUs offense, until that particular drive. Awful coaching
