2012 and 2013 really stick out in my mind as lost opportunities. 2012- a hurricane postpones the Nichols St. game to after the civil war. Had this game happened, it would have been a 7-0 start and maybe, just maybe Mediocre Mike could surpass that 4 loss threshold. 2013- EWU. Win a game you could and are supposed to, and your 7-0 going into consecutive home games. But no, Riley mimics the Bellotti Fade (tm) with a nice 5 loss streak ending up a very mediocre 7-6 with a embarrassment v. UW at home. I'll disagree with the 2012 game. By not having the Nichols st game #1 we were able to not give Wisconsin any game tape of us. Bielma even didn't send us tape of Wisconsin's first game as we couldn't reciprocate. They went into our game with no idea of what they'd be facing other than 2011 game tape (which as we know 2011 wasn't very good). We then went on to beat UCLA and Zona and those 3 wins to start out the year propelled us to a very high ranking until the UW game. Definitely agree with the EWU game though. We were a top 25 team, a ton of positive press out of the 2012 season, expected to go 7-0 before Stanford and compete for P12 North crown. Then Banker's D did its thing against a mobile QB and we lost all that momentum and I venture we never recovered it after the EWU game, either for the rest of the 2013 and 2014 seasons. We've never been on the national scene since that EWU game.... Hey Ron. Did you date a soccer player with the initials JS at one point in days gone by?
