The conference is expected to officially release the Pac12 schedule sometime this week. The Civil War rivalry game between Oregon and Oregon State will be played on Friday, Nov. 24. It’s the only Pac-12 game set for “Black Friday” and one of two Friday games the Beavers are scheduled to play in 2023. OSU will also play Friday, Sept. 29 at home vs. Utah. I haven't been this excited about Beaver football in a long time. It feels good!

I haven't been this excited about Beaver football in a long time. It feels good! Source: Canzano According to Canzano: September 2 @ San Jose State September 9 UC Davis September 16 San Diego State September 23 @ Washington State September 29 Utah November 18 Washington November 24 @ Oregon
That leaves @ Arizona, @ California, @ Colorado, Stanford, and UCLA to be spread out over the six weeks between September 29th and November 18th. I do not believe that Arizona can be on October 7th, because I believe that they will be playing @ USC. That is good. I want to play Arizona and UCLA as late in the season as possible.
I threw the rest into a random number generator for funsies and I got:
September 2 @ San Jose State September 9 UC Davis September 16 San Diego State September 23 @ Washington State September 29 Utah October 7 @ California October 14 Bye October 21 UCLA October 28 @ Arizona November 4 @ Colorado November 11 Stanford November 18 Washington November 24 @ Oregon
I really like that October 14th bye, just to break up the season. I mentioned that I want @ Arizona and UCLA late. For similar reasons, I would love for @ Colorado to be early. About the perfect schedule (without seeing the other schedules) would look something like:
September 2 @ San Jose State September 9 UC Davis September 16 San Diego State September 23 @ Wazzu September 29 Utah October 7 @ Colorado October 14 Bye October 21 Stanford October 28 @ California November 4 UCLA November 11 @ Arizona November 18 Washington November 24 @ Oregon
Initial thoughts on Conzano's reported schedule:
Oregon State has not kicked off a season on Saturday September 2nd since 2000. The Beavers kicked off on the road on the 2nd in 2001, but that was a Sunday. Oregon State also played on the 2nd in 2017, but played week 0 in Fort Collins.
Oregon State has not played UC Davis since 1930. Oregon State actually played UC Davis in Corvallis each year from 1927-1930 with the Beavers winning all four: 25-6, 14-0, 19-0, and 20-0. The 1928 and 1929 games with UC Davis were each played in September. The 1928 and 1930 seasons each ended on Thanksgiving Day. In 1928 5-3 Oregon State beat 8-1 New York University 25-13 at Yankee Stadium, the first time that a team from the West Coast travelled across the country to beat a team from the East Coast. 6-3 Oregon State travelled to Soldier Field to beat West Virginia 12-0 in 1930. 1929 was not as good of a season as the other two but ended in Detroit with a win against undefeated Detroit University (now Detroit Mercy).
Oregon State played San Diego State in game three in two seasons: 2000 and 2014. In each of those seasons, Oregon State started by playing on the road against a Mountain West team and at home against a Big Sky team. Hopefully, 2023 turns out more like 2000 than 2014.
The last time that Oregon State opened Pac-12 play on the road on September 23rd was in 2012, a 27-20 win over UCLA.
The last time that Oregon State played in Eugene on November 24th was in 1973, a 17-14 win. Oregon State also won there in 1951, a 14-7 win.

This one would be interesting as they would have no consecutive PAC 12 games at home or on the road.

I wonder if we’re the only team that will be playing 10 league games this year?

I count 9 league games but I haven't been drinking..........yet I figure if USC and UCLA are still considered to be league members this year (they’re all but gone), once SDSU is announced as added they should be afforded the same courtesy (they will be all but here). I’m a little ahead of the game, but by fall I think there will be some expansion officially announced. It won’t be an official 10 game league schedule, but it’s still a 10 game league schedule if SDSU is afforded the same respect as the other two schools. Then again, it wouldn’t bother me if USC and USC were to be considered non-league teams this year, they chose to leave.

I wonder if we’re the only team that will be playing 10 league games this year? The only other Pac-12 team which plays San Diego State is UCLA. The Bruins play in San Diego the weekend before the Aztecs travel up to Corvallis.

Assuming SDSU gets the official league invite before the season begins I'm probably calling that game the "Pseudo Bowl". UCLA will be a Pac 12 team by technicality, and SDSU will not be by technicality.

Bump. Wow, The random number generator pretty much nailed it. It just transposed the bye with the UCLA game. That probably made the UCLA game harder but the Arizona game easier.

I haven't seen a word one since then, is this still considered a done deal?

I haven't seen a word one since then, is this still considered a done deal? Someone pointed out to me the other day that the Big 12 still hasn't formally announced their TV rights deal yet. It could be that the Big 12 is trying to poach the Pac-12 or the Pac-12 is trying to poach the Big 12. San Diego State to the Pac-12 only makes sense, if there is still a viable Big 12 and Pac-12. The Big 12 very well could be trying to pull off a coup de grâce...........or vice versa. Maybe the numbers aren't right for one or more of the Big 12 powers, and they want into the Pac-12? Or maybe, they realize that they need one or more Pac-12 teams to make the numbers work out right? Or vice versa? Or heck, maybe Oklahoma or Texas had a change of heart? Or Notre Dame. Or the Big Ten or SEC is going to hemorrhage apart? There could be something very unforeseen happening right now, which is going to upset everything. San Diego State is probably going to wind up somewhere better, unless the Big 12 or the Pac-12 manages to finish the other off. The Pac-12 overperformed and the Big-12 underperformed in football. Maybe there is some great news on the way? Or maybe something is going on in the basketball world? Who knows? Best not to get stuck in the guessing weeds.
