Of all that have left, I would really like to see Paurova change her mind. I was really looking forward to watching her game grow and filling that potential she showed.

Maybe now we can shift gears to some potential transfer targets (with no inside knowledge). At this point, we're down to five players, so ideally we add eight more players. Could be a mix of late 2024 recruits (mostly internationals), JUCOs, and transfers. IMO, it'll be hard to land quality players out of the portal considering all the talent we just lost and the move to the WCC, so we'll see. Here's two potential targets:
- Kelbie Washington, 5-7 PG, Oklahoma: Missed the past two seasons, but was All Big-12 Freshman team in 2021-22. Visited OSU in 2018. She'd be a solid get as a PG if she's healthy.
- Kemery Martin, 6-0 SG, Cal: OSU recruited her out of HS and she took an official visit with Taylor Jones. Played with Kelsey at Utah and Sela at Cal. She'd be a solid WCC guard. She's from Utah, so she may want to go closer to home, but hopefully OSU has interest.
I'd assume they'll start hosting visits soon, if they haven't already.

I'd say more so the portal. Scott doesn't strike me as the type of person that would leave the program hanging for a long period of time if he was leaving and not actively be recruiting. It may just be we have a tougher time recruiting from the portal than we think because we don't want to settle for a 5'2" guard out of St Bonaventure. He may also still be in shock himself.... He might be waiting to see if some subset of the Elite 8 run(aways) are having second thoughts and might want to withdraw their names (I would be surprised if the high visibility "stars" e.g. TG, TvO, RB come back, but some of the "rising stars" - folks that were coming into their own - e.g. Dom, Lily may have second thoughts?). In that case, having a banquet and including folks that might still be swayed to stay might be prudent. To your point, he has always emphasized team chemistry and character, so finding portal gems might be challenging (why are they in the portal to begin with?). Though now seemingly *everyone* is in the portal..... Lastly - just like us, he might have been caught by surprise and even a bit flat-footed. Most sane Beaver fans or even outside commentators didn't think a team that would be penciled in for a Final Four run in 2025 would just blow up the way it did. Finding 8+ new players when you thought you were maybe needing 1-2 might be hard to ramp up for quickly...... Go Beavers! I've considered this possibility myself. It wouldn't surprise me if one or two decided to come back. But at this point Rueck can't count on any to return unless they've told him they are leaning that way. Either way, the program needs to start bringing in some players soon.

Logistics. My take is our transfer portal recruiting got a late start because we were playing longer in the tournament. Our incoming freshmen recruiting is a mystery to me because I didn't see any offer being made this past year listed in the WBB Transfer Portal blog.
Returning players normally pick up last week of May.

Returning players normally pick up last week of May. No, if anything it was slow because they had players leaving in the portal once the portal opened and therefore creating the open roster spots. The portal opened after the tournament ended. And the men lost like eight players and are already well on the way to filling those spots.

I'd be extremely surprised if any of the leavers come back. I don't know. I depends on what options are on the table for each of them. If some players are just getting interest from non-power teams and they entered the portal mainly because of the WCC move, why wouldn't they strongly consider just staying?

Either way, the program needs to start bringing in some players soon. The only way some "may" return was is there was wait for Damn Proud day NIL donations and to see what could be done to up the ante for some. But, those looking for $$ to stay put can just take off. There are young women who will want to play here. Like most on here I do not root for a team because they might be E8. I care because they play for OSU. If they don't I do not waste one ounce of emotional energy on them. Life's too short/precious to allow choices by some athlete(s) to bother me, let alone "grieve". GO OREGON STATE UNIVERSITY

Change of heart. Last weekend Facebook pictures started showing up of OSU WBB players in other team’s uniforms centered in the pictures, flanked by their smiling parents. This week I see those same teams with commits from other Transfer Portal Players with better stats than our players. Thought comes to mind collectively recruiting must be epically stressful and competitive. Supportiveness for OSU WBB players returns accompanied with genuine care and concern for them and the program.
Hurry up and wait. And so it goes. Slow drip sounds in the background.
