I really like DJ. Seems like a solid guy. He seems to be at an eternal showing promise stage Attachments:

I really like DJ. Seems like a solid guy. He seems to be at an eternal showing promise stage Trying to avoid sounding like sour grapes... I was never impressed. For all his accolades, he was mediocre at best here. I am actually pretty surprised a fairly big program took him, given the dynamic player they had before he got hurt. I think FSU fans are going to be disappointed in how lackluster he plays the position.

I have no idea how he'll actually play once the season starts, but his play here and and Clemson never had me thinking program changer let alone a guy to equal an undefeated season. He picked the wrong season to go to FSU. There will be no mercy come the first loss.

We haven't had many come here with three years of experience at a school like Clemson, that's for sure.

DJ was only passing through Corvallis, and he stopped for a cup of coffee. Why he did that, I don't know; wht he left, I don't know. He's apparently a religious guy (nothing wrong with that)who tries to go where God wants him to be, so I guess the Lord offered him more money to go to Florida State.
In any event, his success, or lack of same, at Florida State is of absolutely no interest to me. He is simply a mercenary, nothing more, nothing less.

George Peters took Oregon State to a Rose Bowl in 1941. Paul Brothers took Oregon State to a Rose Bowl in 1964. Those two jump out in my mind. Other quarterbacks came in and were great but they had better seasons in subsequent years.

He seems like a nice guy, but he is 100% out for himself. Prototypical over-hyped mercenary in this new NIL transfer world....reminds me of JT Daniels a bit. Crazy hype coming out of HS. Never live up to it in college. Keep moving.

I for one will be wishing him well when he's leading the Houston Roughnecks to the 2025 UFL championship.

You could see the arm talent that DJ had, which I think is why it was so frustrating to see him put up results that didn't match his talents.
In no way was DJ "bad", it's just that he didn't use his otherworldly talents to get otherworldly results - just really, really good results. He was a very good Beaver QB, but wasn't the savior that he could have been.

DJU has a ton of potential. You can see it. His arm strength. His vision. His ability to turn nothing into something. He is also very much a work in progress. If he takes what he can do and makes it so that it is automatic, the sky is the limit for DJU. Smitty could not do a damn thing with him, which is 100% depressing and 110% unsurprising.
From watching DJU, I still believe that, with the right coaches and system, DJU can still be lethal. Maybe he found the right coach and system at Florida State? We'll see.
I am personally still a fan of DJU and want him to succeed. I do not fault him for leaving Oregon State after Smitty left him high and dry.
