There were not very many high major jobs open, Tenn and Stanford and those were quickly filled. We will see how things go in the next season or two, but if he feels he can't compete at the national level, when the right job comes open, he will probably at the very least give it serious consideration.

Now, don't get started on 'Scott's not leaving this year, but watch out for next year or, at the very latest, 2 years from now.' Several years ago, Scott was the hot young name in women's basketball coaching, and could easily have left for more money; he didn't. And I'm sure there have been people feeling him out in the ensuing years, and here he still is. Finally, considering all that has happened this year, both the good and the bad, certainly overtures have been made. But, as best I can see, there is zero foundation to back up anybody saying he's leaving. If I'm AJ, or any of the other 4, after 8 of my teammates deserted, before I committed to staying, I'd want assurances from my coach that he is too. I know Scott a little bit, and the man I know would never mislead his players and leave them hanging out to dry. Scott isn't going anywhere.

Agreed. What I can see is him staying at OSU and moving into the AD (Athletics Directors) job one of these days at OSU. It's a perfect career move for him. He's 54, college coaches jobs changed a ton, lot less fun, why not move into the AD's job with an appropriate pay raise. He's perfect for the job.

IF Scott leaves, and that is a big if, let it be noted that his team first quit on him, he did not quit on them like the former football coach whose name is not spoken. Pettibone?

What makes people think 28+ years as a college coach makes one qualified to be a D1 AD??
The jobs aren't remotely the same, nor is coaching a quailification to run an entire athletic department.

And if SR being the next OSU AD was the big plan why would he interview for mbb coaching jobs at other schools?

What makes people think 28+ years as a college coach makes one qualified to be a D1 AD?? (Check out the OSU AD Job Description. Most AD's are hired from the coaching ranks.)
The jobs aren't remotely the same, nor is coaching a quailification to run an entire athletic department. (Once again, look at the OSU AD job description, it's a perfect developmental fit and is done routinely in college sports. Barns came out of the coaching ranks.
And if SR being the next OSU AD was the big plan why would he interview for mbb coaching jobs at other schools? (Answer the phone when it rings) Interesting, wining coaches always get offers, seldom take them.

Most coaches go into the AD in some advisory role, or fund raiser.

A few schools have hired the FB coach as AD and most of the time it hasn’t worked out very well. This is the same argument when people were banging the drum for Pat Casey to become AD. It’s not a good idea.

Because whoregons Bellotti did for a short stint as the AD and fired Ernie Kent so Coach Rueck could do a short stint and fire Coach Tinkle

It would be so Oregon State to lose Rueck at this point

Scott was positive Scott tonight. He acknowledge everyones pain, fans, teams, OSU, and himself. "We are all hurting right now, but this is the new world of DIV 1 WBB." It wasn't until I got home and realized he didn't mention if he's staying or not.

I found it somewhat amusing that Rueck kept mentioning that this was a celebration and to keep things positive....over and over. Looking out at the hoard of fellow geezers and geezetes I wondered who he thought was a threat to the players. And then I realized, there must have been a mirror on that podium somewhere. LOL
