1. Yes, this seems to be (and should be) the highest priority according to what Scott Barnes has been saying. It's the Power 4 now with the Pac-12 no longer considered a power conference. 2. Seems like something that might happen down the road at some point. She's still in the WNBA right now. 3. Yeah, I think that pretty much covers the main area Rueck recruits. He's gotten a few players from Texas as well. There's no proven reason against recruiting players out of any state, though. 4. Isn't that something Rueck already does? 5. NIL 6. This was more important IMO when I thought they would have all or most of the players back for another run in the NCAA tournament. Still probably a good idea but have to be realistic based on how strong the team looks. grayman,
Thanks for your comments. Much appreciated!
If I am not mistaken, Sydney Wiese is no longer playing in the WNBA. Perhaps she is still playing overseas?
I do believe that statistics will show that the out of state players portal transfer more often and faster (fewer years before transferring) than do locally regional players.
Your point regarding item #6 is well taken, however I would suggest doing the toughest scheduling possible even if it meant losses for awhile.
Go Beavs!
Sydney is on the Connecticut Sun roster. I think the problem with thinking that there is some connection between recruiting out of state (I guess you can include Washington) players and transfer probability is: 1. There have been far more players at OSU from out of the immediate area during the Rueck area. 2. Covid led to a few transfers (according to Rueck). 3. Sasha Goforth was an outlier due to her medical condition. 4. The players currently in the portal aren't there because they are away from home. And two main ones (TVO, Hunter) are from Wash. and Oregon, respectively. All teams try to bring in top athletes from the immediate area but Rueck's success was built on bringing in players from many different states and countries.

Been a Scott fan for couple of decades. Scott is a master rebuilder. Here's my plan: (1) Given that we are headed to the WCC I'd like to see 4+ player added in the 5'6 to 6ft range. (2) Strength being a premium. (3) coachable players. (4) Add 4 Freshman players.
This was fun. Thanks

She might not stick but she still is trying to find a spot in the WNBA, at least for now. I also think Sydney might want to pursue a career in sportscasting. I believe that was her plan.

I thought Jonas was leaving. Isn't that him in the final photo? Pictures could have been taken a month ago. Just like TVO and the other schools she visited. Means the Coach Rueck has been recruiting much of the time.

And TVO certainly was "out there" with her ridiculous "look at me" tour.

I'm curious. If you guys think that TVO putting out pics of her visiting universities is terrible what do you think is going on with the universities putting out those same pics?
Grumbling about people putting things out on social media is like grumbling about those darn cars. Who needs a car when a horse will get you where you need to go...eventually. Or guns, who needs guns when you can use a good solid stick to whack someone over the head with. Yes, we are all a bunch of old fogies, but you don't have to carry a bright neon sign pointing down at yourselves.

TVO is epically media and PR savvy. Also, kind hearted. She always acknowledge fans around campus. Transferring into a semi-rebuild isn't easy. Just ask Hailey Van Lith about her LSU transfer last year. Lot of talent on that USC team, but only one ball.

Navarro's photos were on her personal site. The university is free to retweet them, but it cannot be the originating source. I also suspect she signed a financial aid agreement (transfers do not sign LOIs), at which point the university is free to release social media material, and announce her commitment. But not before.
