"Look at me, look at me!"
Sorry TVO, you are old news, we've moved on and no longer care.

I never read anything in the article that fit the "real reason she transferred" title. Really vague and nonspecific. I had a feeling based on how she was answering questions during the season that she was thinking about leaving. So I believe she was gone no matter what happened with the other players and the program. I also believe the WCC was the main reason for most of the eight players leaving, though not the only reason. TVO is very much a look at me player as Skrimshander points out. Pretty much the polar opposite of what most OSU fans thought she was. And there are a few still clinging to the delusion, mostly the player above the program crowd (those who are bigger fans of individual players than the Beavers as a whole). So anyway. Moving on.

TVO, TVO, TVO. You know I love your game so. You came to OSU reminding us about Jamie Weisner. Sunk that first 3 TVO and I couldn’t let that likeness go. TVO, you put on shows in the paint, at the line, on the boards while playing crucial D. Then you jumped the scorer’s table. TVO, you play like you love this game. Know this, it loves you back.

You're only "fooled" if you are one to place student athletes on some sort of "super star" pedestal and believe all the hype... fan and player. They are kids, they are NOT family, they are NOT intrinsically tied and dedicated to OSU in and of itself. I doubt many would have attended OSU if not for the athletic scholarship. And, many can argue this, but unlike many on this site and spread throughout the world, many are NOT Beavers for life. A lot of student athletes go on with their lives and loved their time at OSU, but they are not deeply involved with the school or it's programs after a period of time. And, weirdly in my personal experiences I've found it varies by sport. The smaller the team roster the closer knit and higher percentage seem to stay engaged with OSU in general. But, when you think of ALL the student athletes that have passed through OSU, how many do you really see/hear about being deeply engaged with the school vs how many we'd hope were more so. And, it is no different that the regular student population... Alumni memberships might show some engagement, but how many truly remained involved with OSU? As society has changed I see this engagement also changing. It appears that alumni interest is not as prevalent in the grads of the last decade+ Thoughts...

However, the digital age keeps people just a text away.

Beers did an interview that does not line up with TVO's version. Beers left because her close friends on the team were leaving. TVO did an interview with some USC youtubers and gave multiple reasons for going to USC: better prep for the WNBA, Charter flights, better conditioning program, etc. With both Beers and TVO they made little or no mention of Coach Rueck. I suspect Coach may be disconnected from his players, and that he relies on assistant coaches to handle that aspect of the job. One assistant went with Beers to Oklahoma, and another former assistant recruited away Hunter. Coach could be vulnerable to more poaching in the future - WCC or not.

I see no reason to attempt to justify or rationalize the actions of young, entitled prima donnas by saying they are just like alums who don't actively support their alma mater. And I would point out that the vast majority of those who are not visibly active no doubt watch and root for OSU when possible. And they proudly answer "Oregon State" when asked where they went to college, as opposed to "several places" as most on this year's team will reply.
If Talia was thinking of being a grad transfer for a long time, I'd have been fine with that if she had communicated that early. Instead, she allowed herself to be the face of Oregon State athletics for the 2023-24 year, appearing in the PAC 12 Network's commercials for the conference and narrating Oregon State's internal presentation shown on network TV during football games and the like.
Then, barely after the airplane's wheels have touched the ground returning from an immensely successful season, she announces that she'll be leading the stampede out of here, followed by her protestations of 'hate' coming from the thousands of fans who felt betrayed (rightfully so in my mind) by the Exodus Eight.
I bear her no ill will, but I'm not about to buy into any attempt to resurrect her image.
