Absolutely, it is. It's normally held the week prior to the Open Championship, so many who play the PGA Tour (including Europeans like Rory McIlroy) show up. Gets them a head start on getting over jet lag, and some time playing links golf. The result is a field that gets better every year. Should be a great experience for Cole. What are your top 5 favorite Scottish Open moments, outside of Cole Rueck’s qualification? There's too many great ones to narrow it down to just 5. 8 of the top 10 players in the world are in the field.

Some big dogs in the field - Rory, Xander, Morikawa, Hovland, Fleetwood, Aberg, Matsuyama, Justin Thomas, Wyndham Clark. That will be a cool experience. FYI Reuck odds = +500000 on Draft Kings. Thinking outside the box. If we bet $100 on Cole and donated the winnings to the WBB NIL fund that would be a cool half a million dollars. If he won of course.

Probably have better odds of finding 5,000 people to donate $100 to the women’s basketball program than Cole winning it all.

Cole is a slam dunk to be the low amateur, as he's the only amateur in the field.

I wouldn't bet on it. Yes you can if the tournament actually has a low amateur designation. About 5 or 6 amateurs make the field at Augusta each year. If none of them make the cut (it happens), the guy with the low score still winds up in Butler Cabin with Jim Nantz.

Finished +4 and tied for last. To be fair...I'm sure this is true at the time of your post. However, the 1st round has not yet concluded.

There are a couple of +5's at the current time. It's still not bad shooting 74 for the first time he's played in that environment. It's not like he shot 85.

Links golf is a whole different kettle of fish from what he's used to, and he's never competed against this level of competition (who are all shooting the lights out). Two rounds of about 74 would be a very respectable showing, and a great boost to him going forward.

The Masters likes to be different. They make their own rules. Anyway, the other majors don't have a low am designation if the amateur doesn't complete four rounds. Also, I should have said Rueck wouldn't get low am no matter what because there isn't such a thing in regular tour events. The only tournaments amateurs are recognized is in majors.
