No concussion protocol for Nall that I heard of or saw, I thought he went back in after that? I think he got the black pellets from the turf in his eye. Stanford plays on grass... Ankle was indeed hurt/spat tape job over shoe... even mentioned by J Hawk on telecast. Head bounce did not look good but never saw sideline of him getting treated, but pretty sure he never saw the field again??? Having listened to the game on the radio and then watching the DVR recording from TV, I think there is some confusion from the TV guys speculating that he went out the second time due to hitting his head. The first time he went out it was clearly due to getting poked in the eye. Both radio and TV weren't sure at the time but on the replay you can see him take Ariko's water bottle and squirt himself in the eye rather than taking a drink from it. Then, on the bench, they checked his eyes. After landing hard out of bounds the TV announcers thought he was going out because he had hit his head but he was clearly limping and nobody on the sideline was checking him for a concussion. The radio sideline reporter said later that his ankle was heavily taped, but I don't recall which ankle he said it was.

Are you sure squirting water in the eye isn't part of the new concussion protocol?

That's how I remember it but maybe it was dirt in the eye since it was grass and I was just assuming it was turf pellets, (they were vicious in Truax) ha

I thought Nall had a possible concussion from the back of his helmet hitting the turf. Didn't see anything about his ankle. There's a part of me that wants to keep Nall in bubble wrap until Civil War. Then we unleash the Wrecking Nall for about 250 against Brady Hoke and the Fighting Turnstiles (for our 5th win of the season). I have that part of me too.
The other part wants a 250# roadgrader to be as physically tough as he is gifted.

Kerry Eggers' latest column says Bright Ugwoegbu may be lost for the rest of the season. Drat. Can't find the "dislike" button. Can you post a link because I can't find it in the Portland Tribune.

(In Morgan Freeman's voice):"And so the physically rough Stanford team claims yet another young beaver for the consecutive year". ....is it me or am I not the only one hating to see the Beavs play the physically rough Utah and Stanford teams ...those two teams alone injure about Half the young beaver team!! I curse Utah for hurting Garreston!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I curse Utah for hurting Garreston!! It really seems as if the Garretson injury was a blessing, considering how poorly he threw the ball compared to McMaryion. I mean, McMaryion is NOT good, and he's still light years ahead of Garretson as a passer.

I mean, McMaryion is NOT good, and he's still light years ahead of Garretson as a passer. Unfortunately... for us it doesn't bode well when looking at GA and staff's player evaluation abilities and development. Top shelf Pac 12 QBs or not he ran off (well documented by player himself) and sat the best two QB options we had... both with reps as #1 and #2 are more than athletic enough to run the read and are far superior passers to any GA recruit/signee. Develop these two we assuredly we are a solid two deep, win a few more games, create time to RS and develop younger more polished QBs plus go after quality JC for year 3/4. Moran... the times I've seen him practices, scrimmages, and on the street/campus has not filled out a bit and was the weakest thrower I've seen in some time. He's a project at best especially if your moving to more of a passing game... as some forget he basically played QB in HS 1 year. Even if he has a great summer he's nit taken a D1 snap and has ONE year of HS game experience. Works for some positions, not QB! So we now recruit a "Mannion" sized JC that has a long throwing motion and is in stark contrast in build to any QB recruit before. Not to mention has turned the ball close to 20 times vs JC competition and could not win the job in a similar offense at Idaho vs QBs that we'd never consider recruiting? Hmmmmmmm

The covering one eye and looking at the other was done after he came off the field after being poked in the eye. I'm sure they were just checking his eyes. After the head bounce there was no concussion checking shown on TV at least and he was limping. Pretty sure the injury from the head bounce was actually a foot/ankle.

Hmmmmmmm I'm with you on this one Baseball..... but lets' be fair... we are not the only Pac 12 program still looking for a QB. I was surprised that the Stanford kid we played against was a 4 star recruit ?!?!?!? He couldn't throw either... was hard to tackle but didn't have a Pac 12 passing game for sure. If Stanford and Shaw swing and miss it certainly indicates it can happen. Hoping we find our guy very soon! Because I'm with you, I'm not sure we have him yet. Go Beavs!
