yeah i do. Sloppy and poorly executed on offense but half of that is inexperience and choppy officiating. Been blown out in the Rose Bowl enough times to appreciate a 4th quarter game. Thing is, the last game OSU played at the Rose BOWL against UCLA they WON.
Back when OSU had some semblance of an offensive identity.
But I guess that doesn't fit your narrative.
Oregon State's last game at the Rose Bowl was a 27-20 win over the #19 UCLA Bruins. Oregon State's game before was a loss on a last-second field goal. The game before was a 34-6 Oregon State win with a backup quarterback, the Beavers biggest win ever in the Rose Bowl, regardless of opponent. The game also remains Oregon State's highest-attended victory ever, 83,478 on hand.
The game before was a 25-7 loss. But it was 7-3 Oregon State in the second, 7-6 Oregon State at halftime, and 13-7 UCLA with 12 minutes left. Clint Polk fumbled, which set up a 47-yard UCLA drive to go up 19-7. A kick catch interference penalty set up a 27-yard drive for a 22-7 UCLA lead. Matt Moore was sacked on the next drive and fumbled (Oregon State's sixth lost fumble), which set up a four-yard drive for a 25-7 lead. Serna was 0-2 on field goals. Bad but not a blow out by any shake of the stick.
The game before was a 51-28 loss to #8 UCLA. 41-28 with 10 minutes left.
Game before was a 44-38 win over #23 UCLA in 2000.
Game before was a 34-10 loss to #18 UCLA. 17-7 with 12 minutes left. McCown was quarterback for UCLA. Alexander was quarterback for Oregon State.
Game before was a 23-14 win over UCLA, Oregon State's first win in the Rose Bowl.
Game before was a 26-14 UCLA win.
Game before was a 26-17 UCLA win.
Game before was a 38-21 UCLA win. UCLA's quarterback was Troy Aikman, and the Bruins were ranked second in the country. 31-21 until Aikman threw a touchdown with 20 seconds left to pad stats and try and bolster their resume.
Game before was a 41-0 blow out by #13 UCLA.
Game before was a 26-17 UCLA win.
Game before was the 1965 Rose Bowl, a 34-7 blow out by #4 Michigan.
Game before was the 1957 Rose Bowl, a 35-19 win by #3 Iowa.
The only other game that Oregon State played in Pasadena was a 7-0 loss to USC in 1921 at Tournament Park. Tournament Park was where the original Rose Bowl was played (though it was not called that until the other bowl games started to pop up in the 30s).
But yeah, those blow out losses in 1965 and 1985 still sting.
