Ya definitely odd but with Hall buying a house last week, who knows?? Ha Go Beavs! This might not mean anything if he just closed on it. Appraisals take weeks these days, and it's often running 45-60 days to close on a house once you get it under contract. He might have got it under contract before everything went to hell with Andersen, and once you're out of the inspection period then you're pretty much forced to follow through with the sale or lose your earnest money...

Would be a weird deal. Doesn't the HC normally decide on who his coordinators will be? Only the successful Head Coaches. Thank you. Something a great number of people here don't get.

I don't know, I offered and closed on my house in less than 30 days this past May. It was a cash deal though, but I'm assuming his was as well.

Hall already has real estate investments from the past unless he liquidated them recently. I do not read much into him buying a house. His life has been pretty transient for sometime so I think he is okay with long distance real estate investments. So, I believe he felt that he would have a home for his family and it could become an investment depending on the situation.

A cash deal can close in 10 business days or less if you really push it and there's no inspection. 30 days would be extremely fast for a financed home in Oregon That 45-60 day figure is pretty accurate here the last few months. Corvallis is also expensive, if one wants to buy a nice house, say 3-4 bedroom post 1990, updated kitchen and vaulted ceilings, north of Walnut or south of Country Club drive you're looking 450-550k minimum for the most part. That's a fair amount of scratch to tie up in cash unless you just sold one and are looking to replace it. The same house in much of Albany or Philomath would be 80-100k lower.

Having any previous affiliation with the Northwest, Oregon State or the city of Corvallis should not be a prerequisite in hiring a head coach. On the other hand, a proven winner, strong recruiter and a person that can teach and coach the game of football is a prerequisite.
Year in and year out, Washington and Oregon produce on average about 20-25 capable Division I football prospects. With four Pac-12 schools looking to share that talent, to hell with this having Northwest ties nonsense. Find a guy that can sign a dozen players from Louisiana and Texas that can run and play the game at a high level.
OSU won't win until we start signing classes with some impact players in the class. To get game-changers, get out of the Northwest. Cherry pick the state when you have a legitimate high-3 or 4 star talent, but quit wasting time with "sleepers".

Exactly my point, I doubt Hall financed his home seeing he played in the NFL. I live in Bend so I'm no stranger to expensive homes..

Right now with the stock market going up 12-18% a year some would rather finance a home at 4% or less than tie up their cash. Assuming he took care of his finances from his pro football years he should be able to afford cash. Cash tends to win in multiple offer situations and there certainly are a lot of them in Corvallis these days. It's a guess whether or not he paid cash. 30 days still puts it before GA left though.

A 3rd round draft pick with a 6 year NFL career he probably made less than 2 million dollars before taxes during his NFL career. Even if you assume he invested that well he probably isn't paying cash for a 500K home.
