It's Monday afternoon yo. Five days post hiring. Gimmie some assistant announcements!
I want something to talk about! All I get is a DOFO (ha!, I just made up that acronym and I love it) announcement? That ain't gonna cut it!

There have been twitter chatter about coaches (plural) visiting recruits so I am curious as well.

It looks like the full consideration date was 12/1, but the assistant coaching jobs don't actually close until 12/6. The football operations job closed today and we heard today, so I bet it's not until Wednesday that things become official. jobs.oregonstate.edu/postings/52676 |

"Applications will continue to be accepted after the full consideration date, until a sufficient applicant pool has been achieved or the position is filled. The closing date is subject to change without notice to applicants."
I read that as if hirings could be completed as early as now for the assistants. Why wait until full closing date if "a sufficient applicant pool" has found the desired candidates. Am I missing something?

That sounds plural, so it just sparks a lot of curiosity for me. Who’s out there with JS connecting with current verbals and (hopefully) some exciting new prospects? Is it too soon for me to say that I’ll trust in JS’s “process”? |

A friend of mine saw a report on Blitz that CJS is on a plane to visit recruits and Trent Bray will be joining the coaching staff. Didn't catch in what capacity but if true I'm assuming LB coach. Anyone? Buehler  |

At the risk of caping up yet again for Angie Machado: Angie is reading the tea leaves and making educated guesses but everything I've ever read from her is pretty clear that it's her opinion at that time, not a prediction. She does a good job of disseminating information without trying to paint herself as a gatekeeper or all-knowing sage. At any rate, the point was not to proclaim that Bray is for sure the next DC without a doubt. It's just worthy of discussion, which is what we're doing here. And yes, rumors are kind of fun.. otherwise we don't have a whole hell of a lot to talk about. |

I was hoping for Breckterfield as DC with Bray as LB. I'm hoping for someone who has actually been a DC to be named DC. No offense to these guys. I was hoping we were willing to open up the pocketbook (easy for me to say) to pay for established coordinators, but maybe that's not realistic. I just worry that with Smith being a first time HC it would be better to have some experience at the coordinator positions (not named Riley). So, Lincoln Riley will not be the OC? |
