I love this hire. Bray is going to be a great one, just like his dad was.
I do notice that the question of whether he is going to be the DC is still not settled.

Heyward has to coach through uo's bowl game. Then he's free to leave, and to join Bray.

I'm guessing he is under contract and his buy out clause has not yet been met. Gotta get the cash man, he is about to be unemployed... for a short period of time

Interesting, that seems like an odd clause for their line of work. Head coaches can bail whenever, but none of their assistants can leave? Can’t Heyward just resign, voiding the contract? Not challenging you, just thinking aloud here...

And as far as rather you can just leave, not if it includes some kind of non-compete clause.

You don’t want all your coaches bailing before the season is over.

When Trent Bray came to OSU after playing at Pullman due to his father joining the staff here, I was very impressed that he gave up a chance to play for the hometown hero Cougs in favor of us. Having him back as LB coach suits me just fine and I hope he can spend many years coaching with the Beavs as a reward for all he did as a Beaver.

Dang.... $425k is a LOT for a LB coach, that is what he was slated to make at NEB next year... I wonder what his OSU salary will be... IIRC Clune only made about 400K...

So we don't have announcements regarding: DC, DL, DB, WR, and Special Teams? Is there a possibility in nabbing Inoke Breckterfield?

Seems to me that you would prefer to name your DC and then the position coaches under him.

Seems to me that you would prefer to name your DC and then the position coaches under him. Its the HC call either way so not sure you need to wait. Its also possible you know who your DC is but can't announce it due to their contract (rumors that Duck assistants can't take other jobs till after Bowl for instance).
