JS identified a few items that would constitute 85% of MR duties. He did not say that he would be involved in 85% of the program.

Simmer down Skippy. You’re all worked up over nothing.

How about we simply trust the head coach to know how he wants to run his program?
BTW, do you also have a problem with Pat Casey ceding almost total control of the pitching staff, and in-game pitching decisions - the two most important parts of any baseball team - to assistant coach Nate Yeskie? Do you think Nate runs the whole show?

A little game planning from MR along with pitching mom’s and dad’s around the kitchen table to go along with a depth of knowledge on both sides of the ball are just what JS needs to HELP him be successful.

Do you really believe Riley was hired to control things? Or was he hired because he is a rare and invaluable resource to a first-time head coach? Thanks to Nebraska experiencing orgasm with all things Scott Frost, Niner has been given this opportunity and I think it makes complete sense to take it. That first year for a newbie head coach is usually a learning experience and the mistakes made are magnified if that coach begins with a program on a rebuilding project. Riley has been in this place as a head coach and can serve as a sounding board when Smith needs advice or has those moments where things just don't seem to working to plan. There aren't many new head coaches who can call upon a member of his staff for such assistance and know what they receive in return is from the perspective of a man who has done the exact same job in the exact same place he is at the moment. Riley being here for Coach Smith doesn't represent a step back. It will serve to accelerate the learning curve for Smith and allow him to improve as a head coach while he's working through year one.

First of all... IN what possible universe can we ACTUALLY go any further back? we are as rock bottom as we can possibly get. and Mike Riley did not put us there. Second of all, learn to read an article. Third and lastly. Relax. Go Beavs.

I should have known better than to read that when I saw the author's name. D'moron can't even get facts straight. Pretty sure we played Boise State in Hawaii and beat them.
