Looks like the football roster was updated with weights as of March 7.
osubeavers.com/roster.aspx?path=football
A couple of interesting ones I noticed: Elu Aydon, 6-3, 380! lbs. Gus Lavaka 6-4, 370! lbs.
Are those correct?

Jesus I hope not. Can we give him a scooter to get on and off the field faster? That's 2.7 Arex Flemings by the way. All 137 lbs of him.

Actually looking forward to the spring "game" this year!!
Go Beavs!!

If he’s who I thought I’ve watched, that height might be generous.

Flemings weight was even less last year. He has always been small and survives on quickness and being the toughest small guy out their. Lavaka and Aydon have both had trouble getting to optimal weight the last 2 years. The least amount that their weights have been listed in that time is 340#. So either they are listing their weights more accurately this year or the training staff have not been doing as good of a job this year. Watching them play last year you could easily convince me they were playing at these weights.

If that’s right, I truly hope they have their big boy pants on.

Champ Flemming... 5-5, 137... Is that... right? Yeah I didn't really care for that signing at the time because 1) he's basically a gadget player and 2) probably 3 years away from contributing. Think his only other offer was Idaho, but I also think part of it was package deal with the other kids from Cathedral (Manning Jr and Jamire Calvin who verballed to the Beav for about 2 days and then ended up at WSU). Oh well. Here's hoping he proves me wrong.

I'm sure that, if we want them lighter, the training staff is giving them all the tools needed (proper diet, exercise) needed to lighten up. At some point the players have to take responsibility.

Looking over the new roster, I would guess that the new staff is displaying more accurate weights. When you look at the OL many of them have lost 10-20 lbs from last year. I find it hard to believe that was the goal. There is of course Lavaka being the biggest exception of the OL gaining weight. Every single linebacker weighs less than last year. Some of them have mysteriously lost 10-20 lbs. Kee Whetzel is among the most surprising now weighing just over 200 lbs, down about 10 lbs.
Some good weight gains as it appears: BJ Baylor almst 20 lbs at 209. David Morris about 10 lbs at 208. Tino Allen about 10 lbs at 209. Tuli Wily-Matagi almost 20 lbs at 275 ( I wonder if they are considering changing his position to OL). Moku Watson almost 10 lbs to 181. Conor Blount almost 10 lbs to 211. Aidan Willard almost 10 lbs to 196. Keli'i Montibon about 10 lbs to 285. Travis Mackay about 20 lbs to 286. Jaelan Bush close to 20 lbs at 262 lbs. Kaleb Hayes up almost 10 lbs to 179. Justin Gardner up almost 10 lbs to 161 (still undersized).
There are a few other weight losses that make you wonder what is happening: Many of the smaller wide receivers lost 5-10 lbs they were already on the smaller side (although this may be a function of past erroneous weights). Quinn Smith about 10 lbs. Mason Moran almost 10 lbs to 188. Adam Soesman down to 208 from ~220. Hamilcar Rashed down about 10 lbs to 224. Onesimus Clarke down about 17 lbs to 323 (I think this one is good). Yanni Demogerontas down about 20 to 280. Xavier Crawford down about 15 lbs to 174.

Looking over the new roster, I would guess that the new staff is displaying more accurate weights. Agreed, all the updated roster tells me is That QA and crew were as accurate at reporting heights and weights as Garretson was at throwing a football It reminds me of when I played football in high school, and I was listed at 6'.... On a good day, in the morning, with my hair spiked and thick socks on I am 5'10" FWIW, I saw Elu over the weekend and he didn't look much different than last year, I certainly wasn't taken aback by his size, it certainly didn't jump out to me that he had gained FORTY pounds in the last few months... Even on a big boy 40 pounds would be noticable. This just smacks of QAs thirst for Faster Stronger Tougher "Big Boys" coming out in the official roster. Is there any oversight on things like this (accurate heights and weights I mean) or is it just something that school put out for there fans?

Well, maybe it is an influence of Coach Smith not liking being listed at 5-11, when he didn't look to be more than 5'9" when I, at 5'11", stood next to him

I've never subscribed to the height and weight manipulation on the game progams that coaches play.
Im only providing my Juco level ath-a-lete perspective, but when I was scouting players before a game and saw the size of the other team, and then compared them to the what I saw in person, when coaches inflated size, it gave me boost of confidence that the staff felt they needed to FIB. They had something to hide, you can only fake it until everyone suits up and steps onto the field.
Once we tip off, or kickoff I know exactly how big/tall you are.
Look at it the other way, say you are a DB and you look at their starting WRs and they are all around 6' and 180-190 lbs. Your thinking ok I can hang with that these guys, they are my size and probably those numbers are tweeked, so on gameday those guys are really gonna be 5'8" and 175 lbs.
Personnally when I saw a really small or short WR I was worried, because the staff didn't have an issue listing him at 140 lbs, he probably could fly.

It makes that "when we got here only 3 or 4 players could lift "x" lbs, now we have 40/50 (I don't remember the numbers or type of lift) that can" claim even more dubious.
