DA is a free agent. The linked article looks at the Panther's backup QB options. Charlotte Observer
DA's tweet may be indication that the Panthers told him he wouldn't be re-signed. Good luck DA!

DA has been an excellent ambassador for Oregon State, really. With Riley and Smitty running things, you have to expect him to come by Valley a few times. I'd like to see him get some kind of recognition in the stadium before a game some day - I feel like a standing ovation from a packed house is something we as a fanbase owe him.

And an "honorary" recruiter of QBs... maybe show up for official visits, toss the ball around and gab some!

DA is still a top backup qb, not a lot of wear, he's going to be picked up by someone, as long as it is not the Browns

DA is still a top backup qb, not a lot of wear, he's going to be picked up by someone, as long as it is not the Browns best job in the NFL Career backup QB. good money an no wear and tear! And you still get to tell chicks you're an NFL QB. One of the best jobs in the world, for sure.

The Browns? Didn't he start there and make the Pro Bowl for that pi$$ poor team before they fell in love with someone else?

best job in the NFL Career backup QB. good money an no wear and tear! He has an amazing house in Arizona, and, he's found time somehow to become a scratch golfer. As I recall, he was pretty much a scratch golfer at OSU, I always saw him out at Trysting Tree - his second home in Corvallis.

Man, seems like yesterday a friend (and former beaver FB player) was an assistant coach at Scappoose telling me about this huge kid that was a stud QB. Now that kid is at the end of his NFL career after what 10 years in the league. I'm freakin' old.
Hope DA catches on somewhere, but maybe he's ready to hang them up.

He has a home on that course in Salem near Swanny.

You're even older, lol, 13 years in the league. This definitively answered the DA vs Joey debate IMO

This definitively answered the DA vs Joey debate IMO This made me want to go look something up...interestingly DA just barely exceeded Joey in career earnings at $32.5mm versus $31.2mm (source: spotrac). Tells you how nice it is to be a top draft pick no matter how well your career goes. Spotrac only tracks the contract salaries/bonuses, correct? Wonder what it would look like if you counted in endorsements etc, given how much longer DA has been able to cash in on his NFL status vs. Joey's relatively short window.

DA far surpasses Joey in pension, bonus annuity for 10+ years in the league. I don't know the current specifics, but as recent as 2013 I believe players retiring now are getting $5700 x the number of years of service/mth... eligible to collect full bennies at 55. They also have an additional 401k plan that the league matches up to 200% of player contributions. And, that all can get muddled depending on the specific contact a player had... So... $30+ mil made and nearly $75k/month at 55... plus any other investments. Not bad...
