Without looking, might be a pretty weak schedule... almost SEC NC like... We agree the GAG roundtable was more like the pizza parlor than King Arthur but at least three of those guys (including GAG) are currently head coaches and two others are D1 head coordinators. How did that happen? I think that Kalani Sitake was a good coach. However, he was asked to implement and run a defense from scratch that he had never run before. He took over BYU and installed a 4-3, which is what he ran for six years at Utah. I think that BYU is in good hands with Sitake. Brent Brennan has gone 3-22 with San Jose State. He is 1-1 against FCS competition and 0-14 away from San Jose. He lost three three games by a combined 12 points last year, including a 44-41 five overtime loss to Hawai'i, so he might be turning things around? Both BYU and San Jose State have had more players drafted than Oregon State over the past two years. (Although it is difficult to have fewer..........)

Sitake might have been a good coach, but if he was, I didn't see it. For supposedly being a Pro From Dover his defense sucked balls.

Last i saw BYU, they look punchless and don't score enough points to save his job. rehashing the same old hash. Groundhash day here always.

What credible coach agrees to run a 3-4 with zero personnel that fit? At least that’s what I think happened. They had to agree on principles prior to the hire. I think they’re both lacking, although GAG much more so than Sitake. Just my $.02.

I don't find this too far-fetched, except I think it was clear to him that the staff GAG had assembled was an f'ing trainwreck... not that Gary himself was a loon.

Man, I don't know what else to think, what with all of the text messages. Something was off with Gary, while he was here. I'm not sure, if that was just Gary being Gary, but that guy seemed a couple fries short of a Happy Meal.

By that point, I think he was faced with the weight of the mess he had created under his leadership and was self-medicating to dull the edge. He knew it was going to be a multi-year climb to put the program back together after the damage his staff had done and he wanted out long before he actually quit, as we all know. I don't think that it was a lot more than drunken self-pity that led to those texts, and when Canzano asked him for permission to publish them he figured he was just out of f***s to give.

It's kind of hard to say his staff caused the damage. He hired a successful defensive coordinator and asked/forced him to coach a system he didn't run with a team that didn't have the personnel for it, and he hired a pretty successful offensive coordinator and asked/forced him to coach a system he didn't run with a team that didn't have the personnel for it. Seems to me he set his coordinators up to fail, at that point it's hard to say if there were issues with the rest of the staff or not.

I watched the 2015 and 2016 Civil Wars on Football in 60 last night and marveled at 3M's leadership of those teams. I'm so glad Anderpants demoted him because he got to go to Fresneck and succeed, leaving Andersnot here to dig his own hole. Had he had the smrts to name 3M the starter, 3M would have engineered enough victories on his own to keep hope alive and "Coach" employed.
Thank you New Mexico and good luck Utah State!
