Must be on weight watchers - 50 pounds of bananas every meal, that are laced with steroids. There is a play dedicated to him - ‘Yellow mush 50, peel through the 2 hole’ On 3 !

Wasn't Isaac Garcia considered to be the future at DE at one point? I'm hoping a couple of the young guys step up and do a great job. Garcia is now listed at OLB.

hopefully the new frosh Bennett is good, I don't think I can stomach watching Aydon all season being a non-factor and easily taken out. that just grates on my nerves. FWIW, I have very high hopes for Aydon this year. I know looks can be deciving, but I saw Elu at the Benton County Fair, and the dude is looking RIPPED. Based on just the elimination of the prodigious, protruding paunch, it look like Aydon has dropped a good amount of weight (50 lbs maybe?), which if nothing else will help him play more than 2 plays in a row. Certainly losing Jeromy is a blow to our depth though. So Elu BETTER be able to play multiple downs in a row. Whittley will hopefully fulfill the hype as already being the best DL on the team, and Elu and Hodgins will be better than last year (IMHO), hopefully Sandberg and Bennett step up and suprise as early contributors. One guy that gets forgotten about is LaMone Williams, who at times, I thought was our best DL last year. Hopefully he takes a step forward as well. i would pump the brakes on expectations for Whittley. He's been out of any kind of football shape for a couple of years. Even the most plug and play JC guys take a few games to figure it out. Any impact at all from Whittley, even later in the season is just an unexpected bonus in my opinion.

I always wonder how much our big DT's get more tired by having to run to the sidelines every third play cause they are too tired to stay in the game, then they run back in a few plays later. Or it's a different scheme package, they're replaced for a play, then run back in. Seems like all that running to the sideline and back takes it's toll on those big guys before the 4th quarter even starts.

Really awful news especially considering what he went through last year.

Just have them play til they can't move, cart them off on a stretcher, then put them back in when they miraculously recover.

Paraphrasing: he was effective even though he isnt in game shape "yet". That's usually coach speak for big mountain to climb.

Garcia is now listed at OLB. I'm aware of his listing at OLB. That doesn't mean it's written in stone, already changed at least once. The 3-4 stud/buck whatever OLB and the WDE positions are extremely similar, often interchangeable, and often played by the same player on different downs, especially players with his body type. Every(3-4) team does this with this position.

Sounds like he lost 50 lbs of fat and gained 49 lbs of muscle! Go Beavs!! I didn't see him in person but the pics I saw from this last weeks practice doesn't have me thinking "ripped"...he has always reminded me of the Michelin man. I don't care if he is fat or not but I just want a guy that isn't blocked so easily and taken out, seems like he just pops up like a cork at the snap and the backs are already 5 yards down field before he breaks contact with his blocker...admittedly towards the end of last season he miraculously did make a couple of plays.

Don't get me wrong, Elu is still a big dude, still over 300 lbs, but closer to 325 instead of 395 The thing I was noticing is that the 50 extra lbs of hanging gut was now just the more typical covering of adapose tissue that an OL or DL carries.
