Why can't we ever do a blackout game? I think it would be fun.

We were punished for people painting their bodies black, at a black out themed game. I do remember that, yes. It was a good time, and the crowd looked fantastic.

This is my least favorite Beaver Nation gripe. We do not own the color black. Boise does not own the color blue. Oregon does not own the color green. I have a green shirt that I wear from time to time. I like it. It does not have anything to do with UO, nor in any way does it indicate I have any sort of affection towards them. As long as both teams aren't wearing the same color on the field at the same time, who cares? Then why have school or team colors, if you are not going to wear them? PS: I'd never own a green shirt. Ever. Exactly.....

Everyone wanted Battleship Gray OSU gear. Not everyone.

Look, when we wore "Battleship Gray" helmets, I didn't hear anyone on here saying "why aren't we wearing orange? Gray isn't one of our colors! Everyone wanted Battleship Gray OSU gear. Then we debuted an "11 Strong" jersey which the Internets tells me is "anthracite" in color. There might have been a few grumblings about us not wearing our primary colors, but for the most part I remember people being generally enthused. I just think that anything you can do to pump up the players makes sense to me. If guys are going to have an extra bounce in their step over wearing a unique jersey color (and you can make a little extra coin by shilling the gear to fans), I don't begrudge teams for doing it. NBA changes jerseys every year for this reason. MLS does it too. There were plenty on Pure Orange.

Why can't we ever do a blackout game? I think it would be fun. Do you not remember the game where a couple of students came in blackface? There's your answer. No - I do not. I DO remember a certain white, female, left-of-center professor inserting herself into the discussion on the most recent attempt, essentially butting into an idea where she did not belong. Really? On the idea that maybe one or two insensitive people might try blackface? This isn't Virginia.
Here's an idea - go ask the kids on the team of color if they have a problem with a blackout - if the answer is no, tell the sanctimonious self-aggrandizing professor to butt out, and mind her own business. If the answer is yes - then no blackout.
Blackface never would have entered my mind, nor anyone else's. So - when are you referring to again exactly? And if someone did show up wearing blackface, if the fans don't take care of them, send them off of the premises. Let me guess - same people having a problem with blackout, are the same people complaining about fireworks, and scaring their dogs

It happened the last time we had a blackout and due to a couple of morons, we will most likely never have one again.

Not sure I would qualify me as "pissed off", just a little tired of people ruining the fun for everyone else, by running to the worst possible outcome. I have faith in the university to reject admittance to anyone that did blackface, and if not, the fan base to take care of it.
Blackout always seemed like a lot of fun, as long as it wasn't with a noon start in September . Just a little tired of the "virtue-signaling" by people that really have nothing invested, just their oversized sense of self worth. As a society, we have to start telling some of these people to bugger off and mind their own business.

It is a moot point as of now, since we currently aren't drawing enough fans for a blackout to make sense. You need a fairly full house to make it work. I do agree with you that there is an overly sensitive PC mindset that I too am tired of. Renaming buildings (Benton Hall for example) that weren't even named after a person that may have been racist seems overly ridiculous. Still waiting for the city to rename all of the streets named after former presidents that owned slaves.....Judging historical figures using today's standards is a slippery slope.
