My attitude towards uniforms is if the players like them then that is good enough for me. They are the ones who have to wear them and like it or not, sometimes uniforms can help in recruiting.

I always root against teams that wear black when it is not one of their colors. Frankly, I think the only color that teams should be allowed to wear that is not part of their chosen colors is white.
Black? No way. Teams chose blue and orange or green and yellow or red and white...they shouldn't be allowed to try and be as cool as the schools that chose black as a color. I make it a point to root against them when they do so.

(I'm looking at you TSDTR.) And the media hypes them. Meanwhile, a team with black as an official school color can't seem to pull it off. Edit: Yes, it was a low-effort thread-creation post. Sorry about that. I was mad when I read the article, but didn't have the time to write more.

This is my least favorite Beaver Nation gripe. We do not own the color black. Boise does not own the color blue. Oregon does not own the color green. I have a green shirt that I wear from time to time. I like it. It does not have anything to do with UO, nor in any way does it indicate I have any sort of affection towards them.
As long as both teams aren't wearing the same color on the field at the same time, who cares?

Ever.

As long as both teams aren't wearing the same color on the field at the same time, who cares? Certainly the schools don't own the colors, but the fanbase does. It may just be my own personality quirk, but I cognitively understand that a green polo from Old Navy has nothing to do with the *ucks, and it may even look great on me and compliment my beautiful blue eyes.... But emotionaly I just can't buy it. These arguments have nothing to do with ownership, or logic, or finances, they are emotonal. I would claim that ALL of fandom is empotional. So when another team "steals" our color... it makes people angry. I think that is totally understandable. And who cares? Clearly lots of folks, there are more posts about "wear orange" on this board than about entire OSU sports How lucky are we that we get to care about a School, a sports team, or the colors that do or don't wear.

As long as both teams aren't wearing the same color on the field at the same time, who cares? I care. I remember a season X years ago I turned on the uo - UW game at Husky Stadium. Good teams, a Pac 10 (or was it 12?) matchup, figured to see purple and gold against mostly white with some green and/or yellow thrown in. I got black with hints of purple vs. grey and white with a yellow toilet seat on the yucks helmet. Big let down. No tradition, stupid color scheme. I know it should not have affected me, but it did. Did I root for the yucks because the Huskies wore black? No. I'll never root for the yucks (although that theory may be challenged if they ever play Notre Dame). But it was tempting.
I like seeing schools wear their colors. What's the point of having colors if they aren't part of the uni?

Look, when we wore "Battleship Gray" helmets, I didn't hear anyone on here saying "why aren't we wearing orange? Gray isn't one of our colors! Everyone wanted Battleship Gray OSU gear. Then we debuted an "11 Strong" jersey which the Internets tells me is "anthracite" in color. There might have been a few grumblings about us not wearing our primary colors, but for the most part I remember people being generally enthused.
I just think that anything you can do to pump up the players makes sense to me. If guys are going to have an extra bounce in their step over wearing a unique jersey color (and you can make a little extra coin by shilling the gear to fans), I don't begrudge teams for doing it. NBA changes jerseys every year for this reason. MLS does it too.

But out the other side to this coin is: Why aren’t we putting on sleek all black uniforms. Maybe we just aren’t worthy.
