Hit the top of the Canyon before noon and check out Kalalau Valley.
Poipu Beach and the turtles/monk seals
Hanalei Bay and beyond for beach time.
Mark's Place in Puhi for lunch....bring your appetite
Duke's is cool for dinner if you're staying close...

Hanalei and north is the most scenic in my opinion. The little one way bridges keep the trucks and tour buses out so it's a little different vibe up there. The beaches are amazing. There is also a little native plant botanical garden I found fascinating: ntbg.org/gardens/limahuli

Not sure if that botanical garden up north is open yet either. But it's some of the most beautiful beaches you'll find on the islands!

Ahh.. my favorite Island. I know the Poipu (south) area the best.
You can golf... All the big courses are great but I love this inexpensive course up in the mountains a bit. Just keep your food away from the chickens. Kukuiolono Park & Golf Course
Coffee in Koloa. Eat at as many fish market's as you can... they rarely have inside seating so go to a park or where ever but those spots are great.
The Beach House was a great view and decent food but more formal. There once was a Roy's Rest in Poipu but I'm not sure it is there anymore. Poipu has had a lot of development since I was last on the island.
Oh, and look for the "White" pineapple. Simply amazing.
Enjoy. Go hiking if you can, none of it will disappoint.

Second on the white pineapple idea. I didn't care for pineapple at all until my wife cut one out of the patch in our yard when we lived in Kona. Turned out most of the patch was white rather than the standard yellow. White pineapple is way more expensive than the regular variety, maybe 5-10 times at a Saturday market. I assume our whites were the same as the "sugarloaf" of Kauai, if they are anything like it at all they're a treat.

Heck the cool thing to do is head outside of the restaurant right before sunset with your drinks to capture the sun dropping below the horizon. That's your highlight. There is a Roy's but it's in the newer shopping center on the main drag...the one in the old mall with Puka Dog closed awhile back.

Maybe they knew who you were and put some fuzz in your food
