Speed kills. That was our advantage on O. There was a lot of assignment football to play when facing an option team. We did not always have perfect position but we did have enough speed to keep Cal Poly from housing it repeatedly. The Mustangs missing makeable FG's helped the cause too.
So there we have it, our one guaranteed win. From this point on we are the underdog. To win just one more game will take an upset. 9 rolls of the dice are present. With the bye week and Stanford struggling, it would be nice to get a win vs the Cardinal.
Thank heavens we did not tank it like we did with Sacramento State. It was such a strong start! Why the point production went to a single TD in the 2nd half after last week's game seeing 0 points scored is concerning. The game is 4 quarters long. We need to show an ability to compete well until the clock is at 0:00. On the other hand, who expected the D to post a 2nd half shutout?
Enjoy the week off Beaver players and coaches. Be ready in two weeks and let's see if we can turn a corner in terms of consistently good performance.

Stanford lost Beaver Brats are good Kid zone under south end zone has shortest concession stands 10 Barrel > Coors We walked into Terrace like we owned the place, either we looked liked we belonged, or there were so few fans the ushers didn’t care The stadium gets better every year Truax tailgater sucks, they just don’t put any effort into it.
Champ and Jeshiah are fun to watch Gebbia moves very smoothly, throws well on the run Hamilcar Rashid was a freaking beast but I still miss Gumbs Aydon had a good game in the middle

We only had, what? 4 drives the whole second half? We opened 3 and out after a whiffed block, then Gebbia moved them down the length of the field after Cal ate up 5+ minutes and scored. We then let Cal Poly eat up 5 minutes again before mounting another drive that ended in the deep redzone on a tipped pass. I am less worried about the single score in the second half of a game put away as I am in how we consistently gave up the edge to Cal Poly. Over and over again we let them take the option play out side for chunk yardage. I know they run, that is what they do. but we gave up 200 yards rushing to a lower division team running a high school offense. The average looked good because we had some sacks and got some negative yardage, but we let their tailback grind up 4.7 YPC against us. can't let a lower division team do that. can't let a team like that sustain long drives. But we won like we should of. Scoreboard baby. And we did it down a significant number of starters. We did it with our #1, #4 and #5 WRs making plays, we did it with our #2 and #3 RBs carrying the load. we did it with a starting OL suspended. We did it down a few defenders. All and all, a good win, but there is still a lot of improvement that needs to happen on that defense.

Get used to giving up yards on the edge. There are three reasons for this: They can't, They won't, or it's not schemed.

I actually popped in there today for the first time in years and left after about 3 minutes. Had the electricity of a craft fair.

Our three leading tacklers were all linebackers. Granted CP is a running team, so you would hope your leading tacklers would be LB’s. But still, that is the first time in a while where our LB corps has played well

But still, that is the first time in a while where our LB corps has played well When your safeties are your leading tacklers, you have a bad defense... LBs SHOULD be your #1, #2 and #3 tacklers on your team. their literal job on any defensive scheme.
