A couple things stick out -
We have 1 turnover on the year. That's it. 1 TO. Garbage time INT on a tipped(?) pass from Gebbia.
Special teams have been really good. Or said differently, I haven't been worrying about STs. Granted it's only 3 FG attempts, but still... Coverage has been pretty solid, punting and kicking solid, return game has been good. We don't have to talk about our punter and I like it that way.
Luton has only been sacked twice. 8 TDs/0 INT. Going back to last year he's something like 19 TD/4 INT in games he's started. I'll take that in a heartbeat.
baby steps... we're getting there. Win the TO battle, win special teams, keep the quarterback upright, all important ingredients for winning football games. Now if we can get the defense dialed in (big IF), I think we've got a punchers chance vs Stanford, Zona, UCLA. Maybe I'm drinking kool-aid after a win vs mighty Cal Poly, but I'm starting to see some pieces come together.

Those are all important pieces of the puzzle, good execution on the O means they are practicing the right things and the timing is good, linemen usually always know the snap count, The special teams havent been special just good.
The D is where the biggest oportunity for improvement still exists. Especially against tempo. I didn't see Cal Poly able to use tempo and i dont think that is usually Stan's thing but if they watch the first two games they will see that is whare OK st. and Haw broke the D and caused missed assignments against the run (Ok state) and pass (HAW). Shaw might just be stubborn and try to jam the ball down the throat of the D the way they have always done but I think that plays into the Beavs hands. When the D has had time to look at the formation and get aligned properly and communicate matchups they have made stops.

Gebbia hit Onesimus Clarke in the back of the head, causing the ball to ricochet up into the air for the interception. Clarke was right where he was supposed to be, picking up the delayed blitz. That is the worst thrown ball by a Beaver quarterback in years. I do not know, if I ever saw that happen before Saturday. Special teams have been phenomenal. Oregon State is #10 in special teams in FPI, third in the Pac-12 between Washington and Stanford in the Pac-12. The Beavers have not been ranked that high on special teams since 2010, when Oregon State finished sixth. For comparison's sake, the rankings the last four years: 2015 97 2016 79 2017 88 2018 75 2019 10
Special teams is an area, where you can see immediate and substantial improvement. Special teams was usually a foolishly undervalued (by dopey fans) area of strength for Oregon State under Mike Riley. It is great that the Beavers are getting back to what we are used to in dominating special teams.
Luton continues to impress. He needs to do a better job at not locking onto a receiver and to be more consistent, but he has hit a couple of passes that were NFL-level over the past three weeks. If he can keep Flemings, Taylor, and Togiai going, Oregon State is going to be tough to stop.
I do not know that our DC and interior front 7 is up to the task of stopping a talented and committed running attack. A down Stanford is still Stanford. Hopefully, Tibs has some tricks up his sleeve. I personally feel better about UCLA, even though it is in the Rose Bowl.

Three games in and I remain skeptical that we can stop ANYBODY (i.e., any power five team) with a decent run game. Cal Poly really proved nothing in this regard. And until we show that we can play run defense, we aren't going win in the PAC.
Stanford has a fair-to middling run game. Slow them down....THEN tell me the defense is beginning to come around.

Both of Stanford’s starting offensive tackles are frosh. Hopefully we can use this to our advantage.

I enjoyed seeing Everett Hayes get opportunities to kick.
