Was surprised at how athletic he looked. He ran the ball much better than I expected and threw OK. He had a few poor passes but also had some good ones. We didn't score many points but the offense looked better than it has in weeks and that was against a really good defense. I think we might find a way to win one more game this year if we keep improving. The defense has played well 9 out of the last 12 quarters which is encouraging.

This is why I wanted to see Mitchell run the ball more in the CO game. I don't think you necessarily have to have a burner at QB to be effective in the spread run game. Sure it definitely helps and is yet another weapon but last night was a perfect example that Mitchell or any decently mobile QB can give the defense fits when they pull that ball back and keep it for 5,6,10,15 yards. Mitchell isn't going to outrun anyone on the defense but picking up a first down or a TD on short yardage or every once in awhile breaking one off for 20 yards is HUGE.

The Mitchell family is extremely athletic. Oldest played on football scholarship at Sac. State, 2nd oldest is our starting C, 3rd oldest now starting QB (for how long who knows), best athlete is the youngest sister, who is already receiving scholarship offers. They come from a small town in WA, and put in an incredible amount of work to maximize potential. They come from good stock, but it's their work ethic that gives them that extra something. The two Mitchell's that are Beavers have loved their experience at Oregon State even with the coaching transition. The family as a whole has great things to say about Oregon State and the way the boys have been treated, that to me is extremely important!
