Just saw this from President Murthy:
"Steven Jackson has been an inspiration to generations of Beavers for his leadership and accomplishments in athletics, philanthropy, media and the arts. I am delighted that he’ll give the 2024 commencement address, inspiring graduates as they begin their lives beyond Oregon State University."

I had to look it up, but I remembered Steven Jackson leaving at the end of his junior year for the NFL, and I was wondering if he ever graduated. Came back and finished, getting his Bachelor's degree in 2020. Good for Steven, on so many levels!

Came back and finished, getting his Bachelor's degree in 2020. Good for Steven, on so many levels! SJ has been a great ambassador for OSU in so many ways. He was probably as good of a running back as there was anywhere in the college game when he left for The League - the first taken in the NFL draft that year - and was consistently considered to be one of, if not the best pro running back for several years. I loved it when the Rams drafted him to team with Marshall Faulk, and he just exploded once Faulk retired. His combination of size, speed and power was crazy. If the Rams hadn’t had such a lousy O-line for most of his time in St. Louis, he would have been an easy first-ballot Hall of Fame back, IMO. Even with the sieve in front of him for most of his career, he ended up with over 10,000 rushing yards. He was a great player and repped the Beavs at every opportunity. Since retiring, he has been instrumental in Beaver Nation, and given back in the community in many ways. Just a great dude.

All grads would be proud to be as successful as S Jack. one of the greatest beavers both while he was here and after graduation.

That's great.
Many time when I see Jackson in the news, it appears that he is constantly expanding his horizons.
Not just a great athlete, but a very interesting person.

I saw this on the news last night (channel 12) Literally groaned out loud while they were running some stock footage of SJack standing on the sideline. My wife: What? I thought you liked him? Me: I DO! But the frickin footage they chose of him standing on the sidelines is with Gawd Awful Gary. My wife: Who is Gawd.. never mind I don't care. Me: No wait I'll tell you the story My wife:
