His observation is that he hasn't observed anything? If that's the way you interpret what was quoted.

The players do not even know what he says. You old farts parse his every breath and try to put your spin to it. So funny!

I'm unhappy with the realization that I'm less impressed by the week. I find many things Coach Andersen says about our players to be disappointing. Not sure how that's supposed to motivate any player if that's the intent. If you really are that unhappy with some of those guys for Christ's sake, just keep it to yourself. You're making yourself look petty. That's my opinion and I'm entitled to it too. Unfortunately I'm feeling a little bit of this too. He comes off as kind of cold sometimes with regard to his players. I just don't think that, absent some moronic personal foul penalty or something like that which loses the game, a coach should call out his players as the reason for losing. One of the reasons we're losing, in my opinion, is GA's choice to change absolutely everything before he had a chance to change the talent mix. I'm a bean counter - force me into artistic marketing and I probably am not going to do well.

The only thing I've heard so far that's been truly, truly disappointing was the remarks both he and Sitake made about guys refusing to learn their system. I have a hard time believing that the guys on this team were so loyal to the previous staff that they flat out sabotaged the season, or had so little regard for the current staff that they openly ignored their suggestions. The rest of the comments are amusing and make me scratch my head from time to time, but that's just hanging a bunch of 18-20 year olds out to dry in an environment where they're not really in a position to defend themselves. Wasn't a fan of that at all.

What were the comments made by Andersen/Sitake and WHO are the players who were hung out to dry? How long ago was this?

What were the comments made by Andersen/Sitake and WHO are the players who were hung out to dry? How long ago was this? From oregonlive on October 21st: Perhaps the most perplexing development is how many other players continue to demonstrate proper fundamentals and technique during practice, just like in the spring and fall camp and preseason scrimmages. But those controlled settings cannot completely simulate a game, where Sitake is sometimes unsure if certain players are deliberately being defiant because they don't believe in the scheme or if they simply "get freaked out" when the pressure ramps up with thousands of onlookers in the stands. They haven't named names, and I didn't mean to imply that they were. But there's been more than one comment about players being defiant or "refusing to learn" that are said as almost throwaway comments, but they speak to the mindset of the coaches, who have such a steadfast belief in themselves and their system that they seem unwilling to compromise or modify based on the current situation.

Well if you tell a kid to plug the A gap and in the heat of battle he keeps plugging the B gap - do you really change your entire scheme or do you see who wants to follow directions? Perhaps that's why certain players are no longer at the top of the depth chart. So be it.

What bvrbred posted is nowhere near how nabeav interpreted. Interesting how one poster's agenda can spin a thread out of control.

Really not much of a "spin" if you been on the board (or actually read/listen to interviews) and read the plethora of comments in several threads interpreting coach's comments... no matter you affinity or lack there of for the coaching staff... it is common knowledge "players" have been consistently tossed under the bus by ambiguous comments... none by name. By the upper class men are specifically singled out in multiple quotes. It's pretty evident none of our coaches could be in the political arena as "spin control" in not in their tool bag.

I've been reading the threads. What I have seen -- and this is a particularly glaring example of it -- are posters with an agenda parsing everything ad naseum. Let's take a look: "They haven't named names, and I didn't mean to imply that they were. This last sentence is interesting. "... speak to the mindset of the coaches, who have such a steadfast belief in themselves and their system that they seem unwilling to compromise or modify based on the current situation." They are the coaches. They have a system. Players are being defiant or refusing to learn. They don't play. We didn't see that with Riley? McCants, anyone. Agnew? Katz? Examples of players who couldn't or wouldn't do what the system, Riley's system, needed them to do. Now what did Leach do when he took over in Pullman? Pushed out the kids that couldn't or wouldn't. Every coach does it. It's part of coaching. So, what's your beef? YOU don't believe in or agree with their system. That's why YOU are making it seem as if the coaches are unreasonably demanding. Geez, Louise. Get a life; read a book; or get Netflix.

LMAO Actually you have the right to post your opinion of the coaches, but have zero right to tell others what they may or may not think of the coaches/comments/their interpretation... So... really... it is you that needs to get a CLUE/LIFE...

I remember the article where Sitake mentioned something about players not playing the system being taught, but I don't recall getting the feeling that he was calling anyone out specifically.

Geez, Louise. Get a life; read a book; or get Netflix. I'm just posting my opinion. You're right, it's my personal preference that the adults not make statements questioning kids effort. Leach one time said that his players effort "bordered on cowardice." I don't agree with that either, and in previous years, when they weren't very good, you heard a lot more people questioning his methods. After they lost to Portland State, pretty much every Coug was ready to chip in on a kickstarter to get him out of there. Now he's winning, and everyone's all in on Cougar football as a model for what can happen here. Maybe it will, maybe it won't. In past years, when the defense was horrible or the offense was "predictable," that blame was laid squarely at the feet of Riley and his coordinators. Their gap cancellation scheme on D one year had us in the top ten in the nation in rush defense one year if I'm not mistaken. When the results weren't as good, the coaches were to blame for not adapting. And NOT ONCE do I ever remember a single coach on the team questioning the players ability to learn or speculating that they weren't even attempting to do it correctly. For the most part, they just took the criticism. Now we've got a new staff, and the results are crappy. Only difference is now if I question the coaches methods, all of a sudden apparently I have an agenda and need to watch Netflix or read a book? I won't disagree with you: I'd rather have Mike Riley as our football coach than Gary Andersen, and that has nothing to do with wins and losses. Plain and simple, I preferred his way of going about things. Do I still hope we succeed on the field? Absolutely. Do I think we can win doing it Gary Andersen's way? Sure, there's no reason to think that it can't eventually work. But to say that I need to "get a life" for questioning his way of going about things is a little childish, and I will not apologize for posting my opinion.

Is this what happens when you are on a 0 4 or is this Bill Oreilly dissecting every word someone says. No offense but my gawd you should be wearing a tin hat while lip reading your neighbors.
