I think the stat the concerned me the most was Mitchell was in the 4th quarter w the game on the line.....and went 4-16. I hope I read that wrong. That can't all be on the receivers. Sure it was his first action, but passing was supposed to be better w him.

I don't know whether you read that wrong but it was not pretty. As bad as the receivers were all game, it was not all on them. Mitchell basically had one good long throw all game. In that crucial 4th quarter I believe he had 3 chances to drive down the field for the lead. He was getting the ball out quick but his throws were low and often behind the receiver. I was disappointed not to see Collins get a chance during that 4th quarter.

I just didn't like seeing us experiment w someone new on a night where Collins looked fine, when it was one of the only realistic chances left for a win.

I'd like to see Mitchell get a chance to run the ball a little bit. He's obviously not near the running threat that Seth is but we only need him to pick up 10-12 yards a pop, or maybe just 2-3 if it moves the chains. Here's the way I look at it: Mitchell seemed to be much better suited to passing the ball, that a threat on the defense. If we get our RB's going then that should open up Mitchell keeping now and then for some gains. We're not asking him to rip off a 40 yard run, not likely, but when the defense isn't ready for it because of a productive running game with the RB's, he can fake the handoff and keep it around the edge for some yardage. That coupled with his pressuring the defense with the passing game starts to open up our offense. Mitchell didn't keep the ball and run once that I remember last weekend. Seth doesn't pose much of a passing threat at all so the defense keys on him and our running game and we become one dimensional. I'd just like to see what Mitchell could do running the complete offense. Disagree that, "Seth doesn't pose much of a passing threat at all." He is not Rahim Muhammad. He has connected on some really nice plays that showed both arm and accuracy. His biggest problem is he isn't comfortable with the five or seven step drop and long developing route tree. But he throws fine on the run. He threw for 77 yards on five completions throwing on the run. I don't see anything wrong with including that in our offense. Rahim won at Autzen.

Rahim was a great competitor and a great Beav. But he wasn't much of a passer, at all. Had he been, and had Pettibone's OC known how to coordinate a passing game, our offense would have been a lot better. Rahim had a low center of gravity, good balance, wasn't afraid to take hits, and tended to play mistake free ball running the option.

He, Lyle, and Ian are Gods during the modern area.

The coaches had a plan to play both QBs in alternate quarters. As we got into the 4th Qtr I wondered if they were going to stick with that rotation in a close game. They did but I'm not sure that was the right choice. Mitchell didn't look like a better QB to me and he was less experienced. I would have put Seth back in towards the end ... especially after seeing Nick press too hard (and throw too hard) trying to lead a beaver comeback.
